She flipped through them quickly–her eyes scanning ten lines at a time. Within moments, she was done.

The students surrounding her watched with bated breath.

Sloane looked up, apology in her eyes. “I’m sorry, everyone. Your project’s direction is quite different from my own research, and I’m also short on time right now. I won’t be able to join.”

The smiles on their faces vanished at once, replaced by visible disappointment.

But then Sloane continued, “I gave it some thought–you’re currently stuck on the feature extraction algorithm, right? You might want to try incorporating an attention mechanism. It allows the model to focus on key areas of an image, improving accuracy. With some fine- tuning, it could also speed up training and enhance performance.”

Their eyes lit up instantly. A glance between them confirmed it–they were all thinking the same thing.

The lead senior grasped Sloane’s hand, thrilled. “Thank you, Sloane! That suggestion alone has opened up a whole new path for us. We were totally stuck before.”

The others nodded eagerly, faces glowing with excitement and gratitude. All the disappointment from earlier vanished, replaced by renewed hope for a breakthrough.

Jill finally managed to slip through the crowd. She teased, “Sloane, you’re practically a superstar in the department now. They’re ambushing you left and right. What is this, your third wave today?”

Sloane could only laugh helplessly. It had become so overwhelming, she’d asked Mr. Samson for a short leave–just to disappear for a while.

Jill, always full of the latest gossip, leaned in. “Have you heard? The Kent family is offering a huge reward for a mysterious doctor.”

“Apparently, Mr. Clark collapsed and was rushed to the hospital. A mysterious doctor treated him and pulled him back from the brink.” Jill’s voice dropped dramatically. “Their medical skill was godlike. The thing is, they vanished without a trace. The Kents don’t even know their

name.”
