After learning from the hospital director what his eldest son had done, the Kent family patriarch summoned him to the bedside and scolded him fiercely.

“As the head of the Kent family, how could you act so recklessly?” Mr. Clark’s anger triggered a coughing fit. “Cough, cough, cough!”

“Dad, I was wrong. Please don’t get upset,” Gordon hurried to his side, gently patting his back to soothe him.

Mr. Clark took a long moment to recover. Once his breathing steadied, he continued, “That young girl already possesses such impressive medical skill at her age. It means she must have an extraordinary master behind her. Someone like that–we should be doing everything we can to win over, not offend.”

Gordon realized he’d messed up. “Then what should we do now, Dad?”

“Do nothing,” Mr. Clark said tiredly. “Just put out a public offer–say the Kent family is willing to pay thirty million to invite the little doctor to come forward.”

“Thirty million?” Gordon hesitated. “Isn’t that too high for an unknown girl? No matter how talented she is…”

Mr. Clark glared at him. “Too high? She might not even accept.”

Gordon didn’t dare argue and nodded quickly before going to carry out the order.

Just before he left, Mr. Clark gave one more instruction. “And you are not to bother that family again.”

“Yes, Father.” Gordon agreed, but in his heart, he still felt the old man was being overly cautious. With the Kent family’s current standing in Bellwood, even if the girl had powerful backing, they didn’t need to humble themselves like this.

But once the Kent family posted the thirty–million–dollar bounty, the elite circles of Stonebridge were in an uproar.

“Who is this little doctor? Why have we never heard of her before?”

Word soon got out about Mr. Clark’s emergency at the hospital, but the skepticism only grew.

Sloane had heard right away that the Kent family had gone looking for the Appliepie couple, but she didn’t respond or take any action.

Three days passed after the Kent family issued the bounty, and there was still no word from the little doctor.

Then, one day, Mr. Clark’s condition took a sharp turn for the worse.

From behind the butler stepped Sloane. Everyone in the Kent family turned to look.

When they saw a plain–looking teenage girl, maybe seventeen or eighteen, their faces all fell in disappointment.

But Gordon didn’t care what she looked like. He quickly pulled the girl inside.

Sloane calmly walked to Mr. Clark’s bedside and opened her medical kit.
