Andrew’s face immediately turned grim, his fists clenched so tightly his knuckles turned white. His voice was low and urgent. “Ms. Rivers, what herbs do you need? I’ll send someone right now.”

Sloane forced down the weakness coursing through her body and answered calmly, “Septoherb. It’s the key to the antidote. But it’s extremely rare-

Andrew nodded without hesitation. “I’ll arrange it right away.”

He didn’t leave immediately, though. Glancing at Lucas lying unconscious on the bed, he added, “Ms. Rivers, no one can know that our CEO’s been poisoned. I hope you can keep this confidential.”

Sloane looked up at him. “Don’t worry. Your CEO and I are working together. I don’t want anything to happen to him either.”

Andrew knew how much the boss cared about her, so he chose to trust her. He immediately mobilized every resource he had to locate the Septoherb and locked down all information about Lucas’s condition.

That same night, Sloane swallowed the last pill her master had given her and left Lucas’s villa. Not even Andrew knew where she went.

Meanwhile, at the Rivers family estate, there was still no word from Sloane. Marshall was pacing in circles, his nerves frayed. “What the hell is going on? Didn’t they say she’d already been caught?”

Conrad swallowed nervously. “I don’t know either. A few days ago, Mom really did trick her out of school, but by the time I got there with people, Sloane was already gone, I checked with the university too. She hasn’t shown up in days–it’s like she vanished into thin air. Stonebridge University is looking for her everywhere.”

Marshall nearly exploded. “Of all times to go missing, it had to be now? She’s doing this on purpose to screw with us! She’s trying to get revenge on the Rivers family!”

“Yes, sir.” As soon as Conrad stepped out, he called Whitney. “Whitney, what the hell is going on with your people? Where the hell is Sloane?”

Whitney had already gotten word that Sloane had escaped. It had been three days, and she still hadn’t heard back from the assassins. She was already on edge.

Conrad could tell she was trying to wash her hands of the mess. His fury erupted. “Don’t play dumb with me, Whitney! You’re the one who came to me about working together against Sloane! Now that she’s gone, you’re just gonna bail?”
