Hearing those words, Boone shivered. Those were the very same words he had said earlier.
“You’re out of control!” Helen’s eyes turned bloodshot with fury. “Someone, bring out the family law stick and punish her!”
The servants, having just witnessed Sloane kill a wolfhound bare–handed, hesitated, clutching their sticks, not daring to move.
Seeing this, Helen screamed even louder, “What are you all standing around for? Beat her!”
Sloane crossed her arms in front of her chest, her face utterly fearless. She spoke slowly, “Tomorrow is Samantha’s birthday banquet. I don’t mind showing up covered in bruises.”
Helen’s face twisted.
Tomorrow’s banquet had important guests from all walks of life. If anything shameful happened, the Rivers family would become a laughingstock.
By now, Boone had recovered somewhat. Wiping the water off his face, his eyes burned with hatred. He shouted, “Mom, we can’t let her off! Lock her up tomorrow! Let her scream for help with no one to hear her!”
Sloane shot him a lazy glance and said, drawling, “Sure. While you’re partying downstairs, I’ll provide the background music upstairs. It’ll be unforgettable.”
Samantha hesitated. Tomorrow was supposed to be her perfect day. She did not want anything ruining it.
She whispered to Helen, “Mom… if the Hawthorne finds out we locked up Sloane, it won’t look good.”

At that, Helen finally wavered.
Sloane herself was nothing. She was a wild girl from nowhere, but Lucas was

Sloane smirked. Who would have thought she would one day use power to bully others?
She deliberately scared Helen, “Imagine if Lucas finds out you beat up his fiancée and humiliated him… What if, in a fit of rage, he crushes Rivers Group?”
Thinking of the miserable ends of those who had crossed Lucas, Helen’s face went ghostly pale, her body trembling uncontrollably.
Seeing how easily she had been frightened, Sloane lost interest. She waved her hand dismissively and turned away. “Since you’re not going to beat me, I’ll be leaving.”
Boone, watching her retreating figure, cursed after her, “Sloane, you just wait! Once the Hawthorne annuls your engagement, I’ll make you wish you were dead!”
Sloane paid him no mind and calmly walked toward her room.
Once inside, she dialed a number. “Did you find the people I asked for?”
A reply came quickly.
“Good. Protect them in secret. Tell them… I can help them get justice for their dead loved ones.” Sloane’s eyes gleamed coldly. This was the ‘gift she had prepared for
Boone.
Samantha’s eighteenth birthday banquet arrived as scheduled.
No matter what outsiders thought of Lucas and Sloane’s engagement, as long as the engagement existed, the Rivers family still commanded respect.
So today, more guests arrived than expected.
Somehow, Helen even managed to invite Mason.
At the moment, Samantha clung sweetly to his side. Even though Lucas had already woken up, and Mason no longer seemed so important, she did not mind keeping an extra option around.
Seeing this, Marshall grinned so wide his eyes nearly disappeared. In time, the
