Lucas explained in a low voice, “Although the regular entrance exams are over, Stonebridge University offers some special selection opportunities every year. Students who excel in academic competitions, have significant research achievements, or possess recognized special talents may still qualify for admission.”

“Even if you get a special slot, you still have to pass strict exams,” Benjamin added, shooting a glare at Samson. “You think Stonebridge University just lets anyone walk in?”

As far as he knew, Sloane had grown up in the countryside and had even been forced to drop out of school during middle school. Sure, she had ranked at the top of her class before dropping out, but that was years ago. There was no way she could catch up on all those lost years of knowledge in such a short time.

Samson, reminded of this, scratched his head anxiously. “Then what should we do? Should Lucas just throw money at it like Marshall did?”

Though given Lucas’s influence, that was certainly within his power.

“No need,” Lucas said calmly, as if he was certain Sloane could pass. Instead, he turned to her and asked, “You should start thinking about which major you want to study.”

Sloane actually took the question seriously.

Medicine? She already had a master, and her master had once said that few in this world could teach her anything new now.

“Architecture, then,” Sloane finally decided.

Lucas nodded slightly. “Architecture is an excellent choice. Stonebridge University’s architecture school ranks among the best in the country, with many renowned professors and cutting–edge facilities.”

Sloane smiled. “Since you think it’s a good idea too, let’s go with that.”

It’s settled just like that? What about the entrance exams? Is Lucas really going to cheat for her?

Benjamin, on the other hand, grew even more curious about Sloane. A woman who could make Lucas go to such lengths was rare indeed.

Just then, there was a knock at the door.

Samson got up to open it and found Marshall and several heads of the Rivers family standing outside.

“Mr. Samson, is Mr. Hawthorne inside?” the Rivers family head asked

obsequiously. “We apologize for our poor hospitality. Would it be possible for us to come in and offer our apologies in person?”

Downstairs, although the guests seemed to be mingling normally, many were actually sneaking glances at this room, paying close attention to the situation.

Samson gave a lazy chuckle. “Wait here,” he said, then promptly shut the door in their faces.

“Lucas, go on, hit them with your ult! Ugh, you’re hopeless. Let me do it,” Sloane said, grabbing Lucas’s phone and curling up in a corner to continue the mobile game herself.

When Samson came back, he was utterly baffled. He had only gone to open the door. How had he missed so much? How had they started playing games?

And more importantly, there was actually someone in the world who dared to call Lucas ‘hopeless‘!

Samson looked at Benjamin, the two exchanging bewildered glances.

It did not take long for Sanson to piece together what had happened.

Sloane had been bored and started playing a mobile game. Midway through, she got thirsty, handed her phone to Lucas to hold for her, and asked him to keep playing. Unfortunately, Lucas had never played Honor of Kings before and caused her character to get killed.
