Ginnie wore a graceful smile, neither intervening nor objecting. She simply ran her fingers over the fabric with deliberate poise. “Yulia, don’t be rude. Ms. Sloane might not know-Lisa only takes custom orders now for private clients.”
Jill trembled with fury and reached for the dress. “Give it back! We clearly saw it first!”
Yulia stepped back swiftly, holding the dress behind her like a trophy. “Whoever’s holding it owns it. That’s how it works.”
Jill’s eyes turned red with frustration, but Sloane remained calm. Her expression grew colder by the second.
“That dress,” she said evenly, “was custom-made for me by Lisa.”
Yulia froze for a moment, then burst out laughing. “Did you hear that? She claims Lisa designed a dress just for her!” She turned to Ginnie. “Do you believe that?”
Ginnie covered her mouth with a delicate laugh. “Ms. Sloane, it’s not very nice to lie.”
Sloane ignored the taunts and calmly pulled out her phone. She dialed a number. “I’m here to pick up the dress you made for me.”
A woman’s voice shouted excitedly on the other end. “Sloane? Oh my god, you’re finally back in Stonebridge! Wait where are you now?”

Sloane handed the phone to the stunned store manager. “Lisa’s director would like to speak with you.”
The manager took the phone with shaking hands. After just a few sentences, her face went pale. “Yes! Of course, Director Lisa! I’ll take care of it immediately!”
After ending the call, she returned the phone to Sloane with the utmost respect, then turned to Yulia. *Please return the dress immediately. It was custom-designed by Director Lisa for Ms. Sloane. It’s the only one of its kind in the world.”
Ginnie’s smile froze in place.
The manager added, “You’ll find Ms. Sloane’s initials embroidered inside the inner lining. If you don’t believe me, you’re welcome to check.”
Yulia flipped the hem inside out–and there it was: a delicate, hidden embroidery reading “S.N.”
Jill extended her hand triumphantly. “We’ll take that now.”
Yulia’s face twisted with unwillingness, her eyes darting around as if scheming something new.
Sloane gave her a sidelong, glance and said lightly. “Ms. Yulia, just a reminder–this piece is a one-of-a-kind
