Mr. Samson beamed, clearly proud. “Sloane, just how many surprises do you have up your sleeve?”
Sloane blinked innocently, then offered a rare playful grin. “You’ll find out eventually, sir.”
“You’re Sloane?” John gaped dramatically. “The Sloane who ranked first in the special admissions exam?”
“Wait–wasn’t the forum saying you didn’t even finish middle school, and that Sean trailed off mid–sentence.
you cheated…”
After watching her tear through that encryption like it was child’s play, the idea that she could’ve cheated seemed beyond absurd.
“Hmph. Parroting gossip without thinking–have you boys been using your brains for decoration?” Mr. Samson shot them all a sharp glare.
The group collectively lowered their heads, faces red with shame.
Turning back to Sloane, Mr. Samson’s tone softened. “Sloane, don’t take it personally. The school will handle that forum nonsense. We won’t let you be unfairly targeted.”
“Thank you, Mr. Samson,” Sloane said, her voice even. “If there’s nothing else, I’ll be heading out.”
“Go on,” he nodded.
Sure enough, not long after, the infamous forum post vanished without a trace.
In its place, the university issued an official announcement: a stern condemnation of slanderous behavior and a warning that all those named would face disciplinary action to uphold the school’s integrity.
The announcement even included the full special admissions exam, inviting any doubters to take it themselves–open book. If anyone could match Sloane’s score, they’d be exempt from punishment.

“People really thought the Stonebridge special admissions test was some walk in the park? Even open book, half the student body couldn’t touch it.”
Students applauded the administration’s response. And curiosity about Sloane’s abilities skyrocketed–admiration replaced doubt.
Meanwhile, the students named in the notice looked like they’d been slapped in the face.
Some stubborn ones actually tried the test, but… they didn’t get far.
