Zephyrine

I wriggled in Lycannar’s arms that early morning and slowly fluttered my eyelids open when discomfort stirred me awake.
I stayed there for a heart–stopping moment, his warmth wrapping around me, before I carefully slipped from his embrace.
As I rose from the bed, I tried to move quietly, but in my haste, I nearly bumped into the door.
Lycannar stirred, his eyes blinking open, catching sight of me. I gave him a small smile and whispered a soft good morning before rushing out of the bedchamber, straight to the bath chamber, where I fell to my knees and threw up.
I’d heard of pregnancy and morning sickness before, but I had never experienced it until now.
My body trembled as I rinsed my mouth and tried to steady my breath. That was when I felt it. The heavy, commanding presence at the doorway.
My body went still, my heart stalling in my chest. Slowly, I turned.
Lycannar stood there.
He must have seen everything… and yet, how did I not hear him approach? His silence unsettled me.
I tried to stand, brushing off the dizziness, but his sharp gaze caught every flicker of weakness. Confusion and concern shadowed his eyes before he quietly reached out to summon his sister through their mind link.
Panic surged in me. I grabbed a towel, fumbling for composure, but before I could speak, Princess Mearez arrived.
She stopped at the door, her expression shifting as understanding dawned on her face.
Without a word, she approached, placed her hand gently on my temple, then exhaled softly.
“Lycan, I’ll take care of her. Don’t worry.”
Lycannar hesitated, his gaze lingering on me for a few silent seconds, before he finally turned and walked back into the bedchamber.

Chapter 381
When he was grine Meurer locked in we gain, her tone soft but sneried.
“My parks, are you alright?”
Before I could answer, another wave of nausea hit me, and I bent over to retch again. She was quick to hold my hair back, guiding me to wash my face afterward before sitting me down on » nearby bench.
“Zephyrine.” she said gently, “at this point, you need to tell him. He’s going to be your hushand”
Her words struck deep. I sighed, realizing she was right. I had hidden it to earn his agreement for the war but the war I feared no longer existed.
“Maybe I should,” I murmured quietly. “My brother is letting go of the war. Princess Mearez. We talked last night.”
She blinked, disbelief flickering in her eyes.
“You’re kidding.”
“I wouldn’t dare joke about lives,” I replied softly. “He promised. Today I’m going to perform the ritual to give up my title as Alpha. I’ll hand everything to Varyn. It’s his by right.”
“And..” she hesitated, just like Lycannar had the night before. “Do you trust your brother? Have you told the King?”
I nodded faintly, my heart feeling light for the first time in years.
“My love said it’s fine.” I whispered tiredly. “I think it’s the best thing to do. I don’t want to fight anymore. I just want peace, to focus on my pup, my husband, and our life together. I want to
rest.”
She studied me for a long moment, her gaze full of quiet understanding. Then, she reached out, holding my hand warmly.
“Then follow your instincts. Go hand over your seat, and come back to us. We love you, and we’ll be here for you through everything.”
A soft smile tugged at my lips. Relief washed through me.
“I’ll surprise Lycannar tonight when I return. I’ll tell him the news then. He’ll be shocked, won’t
he?”
Mearez laughed, nodding.

“More like overwhelmed. Good thing my mother’s here, she’s always loved pups. You should have seen how little Black clung to her last night.”
We both laughed, the sound light and free. For a brief moment, life felt simple. Beautiful.
“I’ll send Blue to help you bathe,” she added. “You need someone around, especially now. Morning sickness will come and go, and your libido will spike soon.” She smirked, raising a brow. “Lycannar didn’t touch you last night, did he?”
My cheeks burned, and I lowered my gaze, shaking my head shyly.
“Well,” she chuckled, “he’ll have to make up for it soon. You’ll start craving him more than usual, but don’t worry, it’s perfectly normal.”
“Yeah,” I murmured with a small smile. “I guess so.”
She cupped my cheek, her eyes shining with pride.
“Having the great Zephyrine Ashmere in our family is the greatest honor. Rest, my Queen. I’ll call Blue.”
I smiled as she left, the room falling into peaceful silence. My heart felt lighter, free from the weight of fear. For the first time, I truly believed everything would be alright.
Then, from downstairs, I heard Luna Tahlia’s voice calling up to me.
Curious, I descended the stairs and found her standing in the dining hall, a parchment in her hand.
“You need to see this. It’s from the Wolf Fortress,” she said.
At once, my fatigue vanished. I took the scroll, unrolling it quickly. It was a formal notice from the Council, summoning her to sign the final handover documents with Young Black today.
