I stood in the corridor, the sickness gnawing at me, and set my jaw against it, letting the cold night breeze swirl around me.
Mearez had wanted to speak in that moment, but she stayed silent. She knew what would follow if she had.
I stared ahead into the blank night, and just like that, memories of how my two sisters had suffered at the hands of our father came rushing back, making me swallow hard.
If only I had acted sooner…. if only I had killed him swiftly… he wouldn’t have made them endure so much.
I was lost in thought when movement caught my eyes below. It was him again–my father, walking among the people beneath the night sky.
He paused, slowly lifting his gaze toward me, a wicked grin masking his face.
“Alone and rotting. That’s it. That’s all you will ever be.” His voice came softly, and my heart sank into a depth of sadness but then I heard the soft click of my door closing.
Footsteps approached, and a gentle hand rested on my back. Just like that, the sight of my father and his voice vanished from my mind.
“Lycannar?” Her soothing v
pulled me back to reality.
Quietly, I turned toward her, my heart pounding at the sight of her, so beautiful in my home, in my clothes, in my obsession.
I leaned over and pressed my lips to hers. She responded without restraint. The cold breeze swirled around us as she slowly turned, pulling away to gaze out from the balcony, a small smile playing on her lips.
“Your kingdom is enormous,” she said, giggling softly.
I stepped closer, standing behind her, my hand resting on the carved stone corridor. She leanetl back against my chest, her smile lifting toward me.
I kissed her lips again as she turned her head, then watched her scan the horizon, eyes drinking in every detail.
“That’s the cloth shop where I saw you from the other day,” she pointed ahead, and I leaned in to kiss her hair.
“How did you know I was there?”
“You summoned me.” I murmured.
She stiffened.
“I didn’t.”
“You did. My beasts respond to desire. You wanted to see me, and they sensed it.”

Slowly, she turned in my arms, meeting my gaze for a long moment before pressing her lips lightly to mine.
“Lycan… Princess Serena and Mearez didn’t have a lover,” she said softly. I waited. “Don’t you think it’s time?”
I studied her eyes for a long moment, then looked away, jaw set.
“No man will love them for who they are.”
“But I do. I love you for who you are, Lycan.”
“Lycan…”

“I want pups with you. As many as your body can give. I won’t run from responsibilities. I won’t let any be born out of wedlock.”
She stared at me briefly, muttering,
“I hate you.”
I watched her, heart clenching.
“I hate you for coming to me just now. I won’t forgive you for not finding me sooner. I won’t forgive you.”
I threw caution aside, pressing myself onto her, hugging her tightly, terrified she’d vanish, afraid this was all an illusion.
I kissed her deeply, and she began to undress me.
With candles burning in each corner, she turned to straddle me, and we gave ourselves fully to one another. Intense and hard, every ounce of desire exchanged until only unquenchable lust remained.
