The Sleeper's Wrath and His Wife's Strike novel Chapter 103

Bertha and Alexia answered in unison, “We don’t know her.”

Their denial was so crisp and certain that Lindsay couldn’t help but feel they were hiding something. Somehow, she was convinced they must have met before.

“If you want to invest in a movie, pick someone else for the lead. She’s not right for it.” Yves, who had been silent until now, suddenly spoke up. And of course, he was defending Alexia—rubbing Lindsay’s face in the dirt.

Lindsay’s expression cooled, her lips curling into a mocking smile as she glanced at Yves. “Even Ms. Laurier herself has agreed to the role. Who are you, an outsider, to object?”

No one could stop her from getting her revenge—not even Yves.

If he insisted on standing in her way, then whatever was left between them would be over.

Alexia, suddenly put on the spot, rushed to explain, “Mr. Quigley, I’m taking this movie role willingly. I want to earn my own money for once. I don’t want to rely on your family anymore.”

“Do you even know what the movie’s about? And you’re just accepting it?” Yves’ tone only deepened Lindsay’s displeasure.

She let out a cold laugh. “What’s that supposed to mean? Are you implying I’d hand Ms. Laurier a script that’s immoral?”

She might despise Alexia, but she wasn’t the type to use underhanded tricks. Casting Alexia was simply a way to introduce her to Kris and let her get swept up in the glamorous chaos of show business. If Alexia ended up falling, better her own choices than Lindsay’s interference.

“I didn’t mean that. I just think Alexia isn’t suited for acting,” Yves replied. He remembered Charles, back when he was alive, had always forbidden Alexia from getting involved in the toxic world of entertainment.

Plenty of agents had tried to sign her in the past, but Charles had always turned them down.

“Ms. Laurier, it’s your life. You’re the only one who can decide,” Lindsay said, turning to Alexia and tossing the question back to her.
