The Sleeper's Wrath and His Wife's Strike novel Chapter 117

When Lindsay caught sight of Yves’ hand, wrapped tightly in gauze, her heart clenched. Instinctively, she reached out, wanting to take his hand and see the injury for herself, but stopped, afraid she’d hurt him further.

“What happened?” she demanded, her voice laced with worry.

Yves didn’t try to hide the truth. “I saw you and him together. I lost control for a moment and crushed a wine glass in my hand.”

Lindsay’s concern quickly turned to exasperation. “What are you, some kind of superhero? Breaking glass with your bare hands—are you trying to compete with Iron Man now?”

He shrugged. “I was angry. Couldn’t help it.”

She shot back, “So what if I saw you buying The Glimpse by TF Jewel for Cheryl—should I just fly into a rage and murder you both?” The sarcasm in her voice made her frustration clear.

Yves frowned, a realization dawning on his face. He finally understood why Lindsay had suddenly been upset with Cheryl too.

“No—you’ve got it wrong. That necklace from TF Jewel? I bought it for you. But it’s become so popular lately, everyone seems to have one. It felt cheap, so I gave it to Cheryl instead.”

Lindsay stared at him, dumbfounded. Was that really the truth? She’d spent the whole night fuming over nothing, losing sleep for a reason that didn’t even exist.

Yves, still puzzled, pressed on. “But when Cheryl and I were at the mall buying jewelry, you should have already been home. How did you know we were there together?”

With everything out in the open, Lindsay didn’t hesitate. “I got an anonymous text. It was filled with photos of you and Cheryl—one at the restaurant, another at the TF Jewel store.”

Now, she realized she’d been set up all along.

Her thoughts flashed to Lester, who had been badmouthing Cheryl nonstop. Could he have sent those photos anonymously?

“So, someone wanted to stir up trouble between us,” Yves said darkly. His handsome face grew cold, his eyes sharp with suspicion.

“Do you think it was Lester?” Lindsay guessed.

Yves shook his head. “We don’t know yet. Send me the number that texted you. I’ll look into it.”
