The Sleeper's Wrath and His Wife's Strike novel Chapter 118

Yves composed himself and gave a quiet reply. “Mm. How are things on your end?”

“Oh, wonderful! I watch Leif practice every day—goodness, his driving just gets better and better. This time, I’m sure he’s going to win the championship.” Grandfather Quigley’s confidence in his grandson was unshakable. He’d watched Leif tear around the racetrack, lap after lap, always crossing the finish line with breathtaking skill.

Yves didn’t particularly care for Leif, but at least he didn’t have the same aversion he felt toward Lester.

He nodded along, echoing Grandfather Quigley’s words. “Winning the championship would be good. It would bring honor to the Quigley family.”

Lindsay’s face grew a shade more somber. Of course—Leif’s next race was coming up soon.

“Exactly! But I’ll be leaving Aquora tomorrow. I’ll come back before Leif’s race, though,” Grandfather Quigley said, already plotting his next travel destination.

“Alright,” Yves replied, only half-listening. It didn’t matter much to him; by the end of the month, his people would have brought Grandfather Quigley safely back to Skyrim.

“Lindsay, why so quiet?” Grandfather Quigley called out.

Snapped from her thoughts by the mention of her name, Lindsay switched her camera back on and waved at the screen. “Hello, Grandfather Quigley!”

He peered at her, concern creasing his brow. “You look exhausted, Lindsay. Has Yves been giving you a hard time?”

Yves and Lindsay exchanged a quick glance. So that was it—someone must have tattled, and that’s why Grandfather Quigley was video calling out of the blue.

Lindsay shook her head. “Not at all. I’ve just been rushing to finish some design drafts these past few days. I needed inspiration and a bit of peace and quiet, so I checked into a hotel for a couple of nights.”

“Is that so?” Grandfather Quigley frowned, clearly remembering what Daniel had told him. Things didn’t seem to match up.

She smiled. “See? We’re having dinner together right now.”
