Last night.
After Lindsay got home, she took a long shower and replayed the whole thing in her mind. Of course, she knew she’d been set up.
But that wasn’t the only problem. Yves' behavior was just as questionable. He knew full well how much she disliked Alexia, so why did he bring her back to Luna Lofts?
A place Lindsay herself had never even been.
“I get why you’re upset. Yves definitely handled things badly, but you have to remember—men and women just see things differently.” Cheryl didn’t sugarcoat anything. “What feels like the end of the world to you might be nothing more than a blip on the radar to them.”
“So that’s a free pass for them to act however they want?” Lindsay’s tone was icy.
“It’s all because Alexia is Charles' sister. Otherwise, do you really think Yves would give her the time of day? If she collapsed in the street, Yves wouldn’t even stop.” Cheryl let out a long, helpless sigh. “Alexia knows exactly how to use that to her advantage, and that’s why she has no boundaries.”
“Still, that’s between Yves and Alexia. It has nothing to do with me. I shouldn’t be collateral damage in his efforts to pay off a debt.”
“Exactly. Whoever owes what, they should be the ones to deal with it—married or not, this isn’t your problem. You have every right to be mad, and you need to make sure Yves knows where your boundaries are.” Cheryl’s perspective was always clear-cut, and Lindsay appreciated her honesty.
Lindsay smiled. “If Yves heard you say that, I doubt he’d ever forgive you.”
Cheryl just shrugged. “Doesn’t matter. It’s not like he’s ever done me any favors anyway.”
If anything, he’d thrown her under the bus more times than she could count…
Lindsay could only shake her head.
“Hey, after you pick up your results, want to grab lunch together?” Cheryl asked, eager as always.
