The Sleeper's Wrath and His Wife's Strike novel Chapter 158

Otherwise, why would she bother putting up an “Out of Order” sign when nothing was wrong?

Naomi felt the weight of everyone’s stares and instantly denied any involvement. “It wasn’t me. I just put up the out-of-order sign, but I don’t even know Mrs. Wilson. Why would I want to hurt her?”

She added pointedly, “Besides, I wasn’t the only one in the restroom at the time.” As she finished, Naomi glanced at Lindsay, clearly trying to redirect suspicion.

Right, there were no security cameras in the bathroom, and Mrs. Wilson had no way of knowing who attacked her. As long as Naomi refused to admit anything, there was nothing they could do.

Lindsay, however, didn’t seem bothered. She even smiled, as if this was exactly the response she’d expected. Naomi was never going to pass up a chance to pin the blame on someone else. But the harder she tried to shift suspicion now, the worse it would sting when the truth came out.

Some colleagues—whether because they just loved the drama or simply weren’t thinking—immediately chimed in to support Naomi.

Mary, who was closest with Naomi in the Design Department, spoke up. “I don’t believe Naomi is that kind of person. Plus, the security footage clearly showed Lindsay was in the restroom too. Why is everyone so sure it was Naomi just because she put up a sign?”

“Yeah!” someone else added. “It’s not fair to single Naomi out. If she’s a suspect, then Lindsay is too.”

“It’s not right to just go after one person. If both were there, they both deserve to be questioned.”

Naomi flashed a grateful look at her supportive colleagues. All those little favors she’d done lately were finally paying off.

Mr. Wilson frowned, looking uncertainly at Yves. He wasn’t sure what connection Yves had with Lindsay, but the way Yves kept glancing at her made it obvious they were close.

Most people in the Design Department didn’t even know who Mr. Wilson was, let alone recognize the CEO of the entire company.

Catching Mr. Wilson’s gaze, Yves met his eyes and replied in a neutral tone, “I agree. This is only fair.”

Lindsay smiled faintly. Of course—if you didn’t make a scene, how could you expect a satisfying ending?

She stepped forward, standing tall, but made no effort to defend herself.
