Chapter 586 The Leak
“I want to see the full potential of this subject!” His voice trembled, not from fear but from excitement that rattled him to his bones. Theresa’s display of strength had thrilled him down to his soul.
This is beyond every expectation, beyond anything anyone could have imagined surviving the apocalypse. The chosen one! The most perfect experimental subject!
“Make her unleash everything she has no holding back.”
He rose to his feet, eyes locked on the departing warship. The keycard on his chest gleamed black and gold, marked with two blazing letters: SS–Double S–Rank.
Meanwhile, Theresa’s warship cut through the sea toward her alliance.
On the deck, Rosanna stood stunned as a crowd of people surrounded Theresa, reporting in rapid succession. From their words, she pieced together that these people belonged to a massive alliance, its headquarters rooted in Ansford. They had claimed an entire city for themselves.
What… what is this? Rosanna stared at Theresa with speechless shock.
“Everything in the alliance is running smoothly. We’ve just taken over a refinery, and the crude oil is already being processed. Soon our vehicles will be back on the roads, burning real fuel again.”
“The battle line has pushed into a third of Crestmont. Sage Arlen and his group are fighting hard, and progress is steady.”
Theresa, sipping on a drink at the rail, arched a brow. “Arlen is cooperating that well?”
“Yes. He’s been more than cooperative. In fact, he’s been pressing us for more of your Detox Pills these last two days.”
Theresa bit the straw thoughtfully. Arlen, cooperative? Just because of a few Detox Pills? Without me even watching him? Something about this feels too good to be true.
Her thoughts cut off when a roaring swarm of fighter jets streaked overhead. The warship’s anti–air system activated at once, but the formation headed straight toward their alliance.
Standing tall on deck, Theresa’s eyes went cold and sharp. Again?!
Explosions echoed–not on the ground, but in the sky. The warship’s automated defenses lit
THE LEON
Finished
In less than ten minutes, every single hostile jet was smoking wreckage falling from the sky. The defense system had shown its full might.
Theresa wasted no time. “Full speed back to base!”
“Yes, ma’am!”
Onshore, Lucas stood rooted, staring at the anti–air system’s overwhelming effectiveness.
Has the country really advanced this far in weapons tech before the apocalypse? This is… absurdly powerful.
When radar had detected unidentified fighters entering the sea zone, he had rushed over, ordering everyone into bunkers to avoid the kind of losses they’d suffered before. But by the time he arrived, the battle was already over–so fast it left him dazed.
A ship’s horn blared. Theresa’s warship thundered into port.
“Theresa.” The moment Lucas spotted her figure, his grim expression broke into a rare smile.
“Did any make it through? Did the enemy reach us?”
“None. They were all taken out before they even entered mid–range,” Lucas reported.
Relief washed through Theresa. The system is a lifesaver. Our alliance is finally secure on defense. But who the hell sent those jets? The Divine Academy?
She had never once revealed her alliance’s location to the Divine Academy. Their first encounter had been far away, in the gorge camps near Branford and Crestmont. The second had been through maritime communication. Not once in negotiations had she given away coordinates.
