A smile twisted my lips, but there was nothing warm about it. It was filled with mockery, bitterness, and all things negative.
“Not going well, I see?” I asked, a mocking note in my voice. “He’s not looking at you? He’s ignoring your existence?”
“That makes you feel good, doesn’t it?” she snarled, her teeth bared and sharp teeth displayed. It was hard to see Medea this worked out, or unable to wear her fake smile. And I was really enjoying this.
“Of course I am. Was I supposed to be shedding tears that my husband isn’t giving you the time of the day? Would you have felt that way if it were Papa in this case?”
“I wouldn’t have cared,” she answered without hesitation and my smile dropped.
I walked to her slowly, my eyes fixed on hers. “You’re a worthless piece of shit, Medea.” I stopped before her, getting all up in her personal space. I jabbed my finger in her chest, and she staggered back. “Worthless.” Poke. “Piece.” Jab. “Of shit.” She glared at me, her chest heaving. But I was just as angry as she was, and even more. “You have my father wrapped around your finger, sure, but could you act like a human being and give him a little respect? He took you off the street and gave your worthless life meaning and purpose. Do you think you’ll be working in a company like this without him? Don’t you think he deserves that little respect from you?”
“I do give him that little respect,” she answered, her voice tight. “But that is as far as I’ll go.”
“Wow,” I snorted. “You’re really shameless, aren’t you? I thought as you get older, you become more shameless.”
“You’re only nine years younger than me, Belladonna,” she stated as if that’s going to make a difference in this situation.
Wow. No, really, wow. Was this person really human? How could someone be so shameless? It was really staggering. I just shook my head.
“Want me to tell you something?” I asked, dropping my voice, and leaning in. She frowned but she didn’t pull away. “Your time in this company is limited, Medea. All these years, I’ve been putting off my revenge because I didn’t really know what route to take, but now? Now, I’m ready to get it started. Want to know who my motivation was?” I stayed silent, just looked at her with my smile that was filled with negativity. “Kade.”
Her jaw tightened, the look in her eyes hardening.
I continued to push on. I think I finally understand why she had a kick of poking me; the reactions gave me some kind of rush.
“So I’m going to make you miserable, Medea. I’ll make you suffer before I finally strip you of everything you have, and we’ll both have my husband to thank for that.”
Just then, the door opened and Gianna stepped in. She didn’t even acknowledge Medea’s existence as she said, “The meeting is starting in five minutes, ma’am.”

I nodded, walking to my desk and picking up my coat.

“Fino a quando ci incontreremo di nuovo, Medea,” I said as I brushed past her. (Till we meet again.)
“You’re acting all smug now, but it doesn’t make a difference,” she said to my back, and I paused, my back tensed. “I’ve always got what I want, and this time it wouldn’t make a difference. I’m going to achieve my goal this time as well, Belladonna. It’s only a matter of when, not if.”
I walked out of the office, my jaw clenched. “Good luck with that, stronza.”
Gianna and I walked to the elevator, and once again, the people in there left while muttering greetings under their breath. But I didn’t pay them any mind, I didn’t even notice them. No, my mind was too focused on something far heavier.
“Don’t tell me you’re letting her words get to you,” Gianna said as she pressed the number of the floor where the meeting was being held.
“Of course it’s getting to me,” I snapped, about to bite my lips but I stopped, immediately thinking of Kade. “This is Medea we’re talking about. She’s not to be taken lightly.”
“True, but do you think Kade will just do as she wants with a smile?”
I scoffed at the sheer ridicule of that question. “Of course not. He’s Kade.” My smile didn’t last though. “But that Medea witch will do anything in her power to get what she wants.”
Gianna sighed, looking like she was genuinely tired of my bullshit. “You just have to trust Kade.”
Yeah, true. I trusted him. He hated that bitch just as much as I do, and I’m sure he wouldn’t fall for her tricks.
An idea suddenly popped out of nowhere and my eyes widened. I snapped my fingers, turning to Gianna and grabbing her shoulders.
“Do you know Kade’s schedule?” I asked while shaking her.
She glared at me but she answered, “No.”
I shook her even more and she looked like she wanted to rip my head off my shoulders with her bare hands. “Oh, come on. It’s you. Gianna! How can you not know his schedule?”
She shook my hands off her shoulders but I grabbed onto them again. “Do you think I know every single person who works in this company schedule?”
“No. But I know you know Kade’s schedule.”
She looked at me. I looked back. She sighed. I grinned.
“I knew it. I need his schedule.”
But she shook her head. “I think you need to give him space right now.”
I rolled my eyes. “Yeah, and watch him grow more distant. I’m going to kill two birds with one stone, Gianna.”
