“Abraham….” Stella whimpered softly.

The moment he heard her say his name, something shifted in his chest. The look in his eyes grew even gentler. “Be good, baby, okay?”

Stella pouted, “I don’t want to be good.”

By now, she had figured out his patterns. Whenever Abraham told her to ‘be good, it usually meant he was about to do something very bad. Even if he was careful and held back, it was still more than she could handle.

Abraham said in a playful tone, “I know you don’t. Don’t worry.”

“I don’t want any of that either!” She didn’t want anything. Nothing at all. Absolutely nothing.
