Marie’s voice was sharp, frantic.

Stella’s mind was still foggy; with Marie shouting at her like this, she was even more disoriented.

Instead of answering, she asked, “What happened?”

“Just tell me who matters more to you?”

“You?”

Why was she asking something like this now? Stella’s mind began to clear.

Marie’s heart eased slightly at her answer. “Good. Then pack your things right away.”
