Chapter 806 You’re Begging the Wrong Guy
Stella nodded rapidly. “I’m begging you to make the call; please, hurry and do it.”
Abraham strode forward and yanked Eddie out of the way.

It all happened so suddenly that neither Stella nor Eddie had time to react before they met Abraham’s dark, stormy gaze.
Stella went quiet. Eddie went quiet. The air itself seemed to freeze.
Eddie stared back, bewildered. “Why are you looking at me like that?”
Abraham shot him a cold, sidelong glance, then turned his stern gaze back to Stella. Her little nose reddened under the pressure.
“Abraham… I mean, honey.”
She was so flustered she forgot what to call him.
Abraham’s voice was flat. “What were you begging him for?”
“Ah? I…” Stella faltered.
Eddie could practically smell the tension thick in the air; he didn’t dare linger another second.
“Ah, right, I just remembered—I’ve got something to do! Gotta run!”
After all that time in the Milbar Desert, he’d learned a thing or two; those few months had nearly cooked him alive. He wasn’t about to provoke this old Joe again.
If Abraham sent him back to the Milbar Desert…
Then that concoction he’d slathered on himself yesterday–the one that had made Stella nauseous and left him half–choked–would’ve been for nothing!
But just as he lifted his hand to leave-
Abraham’s cold voice cut through the air. “Go wait for me in the study.”
Eddie froze.
He really didn’t want to go. I’m gonna lose my mind…

Abraham gave him one icy look, and Eddie’s breath hitched. He didn’t dare argue. In the end, he trudged reluctantly upstairs toward the study.

Once it was just Abraham and Stella, he turned to her.
Stella looked up at him with wide, pleading eyes. “Honey!”
Stella thought. Can he not look at me like that? His eyes are terrifying… I’m scared.
Abraham let out a low, cold hum. “Why were you pulling him just now?”
He glanced down at her small hand and brushed his fingers against it; even that touch carried a trace of displeasure.
Stella pouted. “I was asking him for a favor.”
The moment he heard she’d been asking Eddie for something, the shadow in Abraham’s eyes deepened.
“What can’t you handle yourself that you have to beg him?”
“I…” she stammered.
“Wouldn’t it be faster to ask me?”
Stella froze. Huh? Ask… him? But…
“Do I really need to beg you for anything?”
“What do you think?”
Stella fell silent. Of course not! Right… why did I even go to Eddie? I could’ve just asked Abraham!
Her people in Yalvoria might’ve been useless, but her husband’s weren’t.
Guess the saying’s true–pregnancy makes you dumb for three years. And the more you have, the dumber you get…
“Then can you call Evie for me?”
Abraham frowned. “Why do you need to call her?”
“I want her to keep an eye on Rianne. The Hale family’s been targeting her for years, both openly and in secret–and their methods are deadly.”
“When she was in Rivermount, Tempest was protecting her, so those people couldn’t succeed. But now that she’s away from him, someone has to keep watch.”
Just mentioning Tempest made Stella’s temper flare.

Over the years, Linden had pulled plenty of strings against Rianne in secret. If he could protect her, then he had to know those people were working for his mother.
And according to Rianne, Ariana had often attacked her behind the scenes too.
And now they’d even brought in some distant relative–Hailey, who wasn’t even blood–related!
The fact that Hailey could live in the Hale family meant Tempest had to have given his approval. Otherwise, she never could’ve stayed there.
No wonder Rianne was disappointed in him. Just hearing it made Stella furious on her behalf.
“Honey…”
“You begged Eddie for this?”
Stella nodded. “Yeah.”
What else would I have asked him for?
Abraham narrowed his eyes at her.
