Chapter 808 Love Can’t Survive the In–Laws

From Rianne’s own words, Stella had learned that Linden and Tempest’s sister, Ariana, had never liked her. The fact that Rianne had endured all those years for Tempest’s sake was already more than enough.

Though she had almost no family left in the world, Tempest had practically raised her. Her own relatives had even died for Tempest’s father–but aside from Tempest himself, no one in the Hale family remembered that debt.

Even Tempest–well, his sense of gratitude only went so far.

When it came to their relationship, as Rianne said, his loyalties had never truly been with her.

Tempest’s breathing deepened at Stella’s words. “What exactly did Rianne tell you?”

Stella replied evenly, “Back in Rivermount, you and Rianne were the most perfect pair anyone could imagine. You treated her so well in front of others; who would’ve thought…”

Her tone faltered.

Yes, Tempest had treated Rianne well–at least in public. Back then, even Stella had envied her.

Especially since she herself had been separated from Abraham for so long; she truly admired that Rianne and Tempest could stay together.

But now, it turned out the couple she had once envied had been falling apart all along.

Stella drew in a deep breath. “Rianne has no family left in this world. You’re the only one she has.”

“But she isn’t your only family. When she’s around your relatives, your heart sides with them- the ones who share your blood.”

Tempest fell silent.

“If you can’t even balance the most basic line between love and family,” Stella said bluntly, “then Rianne’s decision to leave was the right one.”

She didn’t sugarcoat her words; she never did.

Tempest’s breath came sharper. “Let me talk to her.”

The moment he heard how direct Stella was being, he knew Rianne must’ve told her plenty— and that they were definitely together now.

Tempest’s tone rose, hard and commanding.

Stella gave a cold little laugh. “Don’t bother trying to threaten me. I don’t want things between us to get ugly, Tempest.”

“The Keene family and the Reed family–you’ve seen what happens when people push me too far. I’m not someone who likes to lose.”

At the mention of those names, Tempest’s breathing grew heavier.

Stella was threatening him—and he knew it.

Right then, he understood clearly, Rianne truly wanted to leave him.

Otherwise, she never would’ve gone to Stella for help. And Stella’s attitude now made it obvious -she intended to take Rianne’s side.

“Handle your mother and your sister,” Stella said, her tone like ice. “If they dare send anyone after Rianne, I, Stella, won’t mind making a scene with the Hale family.”

Her voice lowered, sharp and deliberate. “But if it comes to a fight, the one who walks away broken–it won’t be me.”

Tempest’s power was nothing to scoff at, but right now, Stella needed to stand her ground.

Rianne had no family left. So if she was walking away from Tempest, Stella would protect her herself.

Tempest slammed the phone down.

Stella listened to the flat sound on the other end, then scoffed. “Your woman’s about to run away from home, and you’re still throwing a tantrum? What a joke.”

“Exactly.”

A voice came from the stairs behind her. Stella turned and saw Eddie standing there, arms

crossed over his chest.

“Done talking to my husband?” she asked.

“You keep calling him that, and it still sounds weird every time,” Eddie said.

Stella glared at him. Always has to make a comment about something.
