On the other end of the line, Ellis said something Elara couldn’t make out, but Lina’s voice came through again, sharp as a blade. “You’re the one who brought Wayne Pangborn’s twisted attention onto Elara. You’re the one who egged Chuck Chamberlain into seeking revenge, leaving behind evidence of their feud—just so Neely could step in and frame her for murder. If Brian finds out everything you’ve done, do you really think he’ll let you walk away?”

What Ellis replied was unclear, but Lina’s anger was palpable.

“Sure, you killed Hackett Vincent—the patriarch of the Vincent family—and they still didn’t lay a hand on you. Elara’s certainly not as important as Hackett was. But I’ve got proof you ordered Neely to do your dirty work. And I have phone recordings of you and your ‘big shot’ backer—clear as day, with every detail of your bribery spelled out. If you even think about coming after anything I have left, I’ll take us both down in flames.”

The recording wasn’t long, but every word rattled Elara to her core.

“Ma’am, I recorded this secretly during Lina’s call. I don’t know if it’ll help you, but I couldn’t trust anyone else. I had to give it to you in person—I wouldn’t feel safe otherwise.”

“It’s more than enough. Thank you,” Elara replied, steadying her nerves.

While it might not be ironclad evidence in court, it was enough to corroborate Lina and Ellis’s involvement in murder.

Right in front of her, Mrs. Archer deleted the recording from her own phone, erasing any trace.

“Lina’s been put up at The Mirage Estate by Mr. Vincent, but trust me—he’s not keeping her there out of kindness. I’m not here to defend anyone, it’s just…” She hesitated, searching for the right words. “It’s obvious to me, Mr. Vincent still cares about you.”

A bitter smile flickered across Elara’s lips.

She quickly gathered herself. “You need to hurry, or you’ll miss your flight. Once you leave, don’t look back. Do you have enough to settle down somewhere else?”

“I do. Mr. Vincent was more than generous. Ma’am, take care of yourself.”

Eyes red with emotion, Mrs. Archer grabbed her suitcase and hurried toward the gate.

Elara watched her disappear, then, with a heavy heart, picked up her phone and dialed the police.

“Hello, I have information on Lina’s whereabouts…”
