Trash Husband, I'm the Top novel Chapter 128

He gripped his wife’s chin, his cool lips brushing against her ear.

The air between them was electric—charged with both danger and desire.

“So, you thought you could use Grandpa’s name, Aurora, to force me into a divorce? That’s not going to work.”

He had overheard every word they’d exchanged in the hospital room.

Back then, anger had nearly consumed him.

He couldn’t understand it. He’d been trying—really trying—to change, doing everything he could to meet her halfway. So why was she so determined to leave him?

Grandpa had hurt her too, and yet she’d forgiven the old man so easily, even agreeing to call herself his goddaughter. But when it came to him, she acted as if his feelings meant nothing.

He’d had to fight down the rage threatening to boil over.

Instead, he’d come up with a plan.

He’d brought her here.

Maybe, he thought, if they had a child, it would anchor her. Give her something real—someone she couldn’t just walk away from.

His kiss landed on her lips, fierce and desperate.

“Maybe I should just keep you here forever.”

She could hear the seriousness in his voice, and it sent a chill down her spine.

Her eyes brimmed with tears as she trembled, pleading, “Don’t, Daniel. Please don’t lock me in here.”

Daniel’s eyes were wild, his obsession burning through every word—reckless, unyielding.

He kissed her even harder, his voice a velvet threat. “It’s time we had a baby, Aurora.”

“Would you finally settle down with me then? Would you stop running if there was a child?”

“Wait for me.”

Reluctantly, Daniel let go of her and stood to leave.

Downstairs, a storm was waiting, but for Aurora, he’d face it.

Aurora flung her arms around him from behind, sobbing.

“I’ll skip the family reception. Just please, don’t lock me in here,” she begged.

She wanted out—anywhere but here.

Downstairs, the reception hall was filling up with relatives from the Chambers family.

More than a hundred people, all told.

As soon as Daniel appeared, a few nosy cousins sidled over, eager for gossip.

“Mr. Chambers, what’s gotten into the old man, announcing Aurora as his goddaughter out of the blue?”

“Bet the old man’s got his eye on some young lady,” another whispered. “Probably just using this as an excuse to keep her close.”

“He was quite the charmer in his younger days—wouldn’t put it past him.”

“Any girl who could catch his attention must be a real beauty, eh?”

Daniel’s face was like stone, his eyes icy as he cut them off. “If you’ve got nothing better to do than gossip about Grandpa behind his back, maybe life’s been a little too easy for you lately.”

The group went silent instantly.

But the rumors wouldn’t stop; nearly everyone in the room was thinking the same thing—that the old man had taken a shine to some young woman, and this was just his excuse to keep her around.

Mrs. Chambers glided over with a glass of wine, her voice low and furious. “What a disgrace.”

She could already picture tomorrow’s headlines—The Chambers Group mired in scandal—and the thought made her seethe all the more.
