Drusilla quickly snapped back to reality and denied, "No, no, not at all!"
Enoch observed her hesitant and faltering demeanor. "If their sudden appearance just now threw you off, maybe you should step outside for a bit. Cool off, so it doesn’t affect the upcoming therapy session."
He definitely didn’t want his legs to go from bad to worse because of her!
Hearing his suggestion, Drusilla said, "Don’t worry, it won’t. And thanks, Mr. Taylor, for earlier."
"Thank me?"
Drusilla continued, "For not kicking me out just because of what others said."
Enoch didn’t miss the gratitude in her eyes but swiftly looked away, saying coolly, "I just hate complications, and finding someone new would be too much of a hassle. As for you... if you were utterly useless, I’d have no problem replacing you. So, don’t get any ideas about falling for me! I have very high standards, and you don’t meet them."
Drusilla's lips twitched at his presumptuous words.
Fall for him? How did he even come to that conclusion? And did he have to be so blunt about it?
To prevent any further misunderstandings, Drusilla clarified, "Mr. Taylor, rest assured, I’m here for your money and nothing else."
"That’s reassuring."
His status and wealth were well-known, attracting countless women who wished to marry him.
Drusilla, observing his aloof demeanor, found herself at a loss for words.
Oberon, having shown the visitors out, returned and asked, "Shall we start?"
