Harlan stared at her, finding it almost amusing that Enoch had decided to keep her around.
His voice dripped with sarcasm as he spoke. "An acupuncturist? Really? What kind of acupuncturist could the Taylor family possibly need that they'd have to settle for you? I bet it's just your pretty face that got you close to Enoch. That man's a complete wreck, can't even stand on his own two feet, and you're throwing yourself at him? Looks like you've really hit rock bottom!"
For some reason, the thought of her offering physical therapy to another man, potentially seeing other men's bodies, made him uncomfortable. Perhaps it's a common trait among men, wanting their exes to remain loyal to them even after a divorce.
Drusilla let out a laugh. "He's a wreck? Mr. Taylor just can't stand on his legs, which is more than I can say for you when it comes to getting up in the morning, Harlan. What are you even doing, pointing fingers at others?"
She couldn't believe she had put up with this sort of thing in the past.
When she found out about his impotence, she only felt pity for him and didn't think much of it.
But in the end? He ruined everything for her, destroyed her life!
Remembering all this, she didn't hold back her words, fully aware of how much his past issues bothered him, deliberately hitting where it hurt.
Harlan's face hardened upon hearing Drusilla's mockery.
He had recovered now, but the past still haunted him, staining his honor.
