Upon seeing Blythe, the manager naturally straightened up and showed respect.
Blythe said, "I thought I'd come by and pick up some things for the baby."
"Did you become a grandmother?" the store manager asked with excitement. He was momentarily forgetting the dispute that had been brewing in the store.
With Blythe's arrival, Drusilla and Verena momentarily held their tongues.
Even Marcella, who had been acting all high and mighty just moments before, fell silent. She only acted tough in front of those she perceived as weaker. In front of someone wealthier or of higher status, her inherent inferiority complex resurfaced, and she dared not speak loudly.
She covertly pulled a sales assistant aside and whispered, "Who is that? Which Mrs. Taylor is she?"
She knew the clientele of this store were generally well-off.
The manager, being well-versed and experienced, only showed such respect to those of notable standing.
The assistant replied, "That's Mrs. Taylor from the Taylor Group. She used to come here often but has since retired."
Upon hearing about the Taylor Group, Marcella realized it was Enoch's mother, Lilith's grandma.
Harlan had mentioned that the Taylor family was incredibly wealthy. Being with Lilith meant he could connect with the Taylor family, which would skyrocket his career.
With this in mind, she quickly composed herself, approached Blythe with a charming smile, and said, "Good day, madam."
Blythe looked up, gave Marcella a polite smile, and said, "Hello."
Blythe, being polite, naturally responded to the greeting despite that she faced a stranger.
Marcella introduced herself, "I'm Marcella, Harlan's sister. I've heard so much about you from Harlan. It's an honor to meet you today."
Hearing Harlan's name, Blythe glanced at her. She had always been unsatisfied with Harlan's family background and, naturally, was not too warm towards his relatives.
