Nevertheless, in the Taylor household, Harlan knew better than to stir the pot.
After Harlan stormed off, she couldn't help but smirk to herself. Watching him leave in a huff, she felt he got exactly what he deserved.
As she watched Harlan's retreating figure, Drusilla suddenly felt eyes on her. Looking up, she saw Enoch on his room's balcony and having his eyes on her.
His oceanic eyes bore into her, making her inexplicably nervous. She offered him a timid smile, but his cold face remained unreadable.
Heading upstairs, she found Enoch had already retreated from the balcony and was now sitting by the French windows, his back to her.
While Drusilla could be bold and brash around others in the Taylor family, she trod more carefully around Enoch.
After all, she knew his protection was the only reason she could hold her head high here.
She asked softly, "What's wrong?"
"What were you discussing with Harlan?" Enoch's voice was stern as he watched her reflection on the window.
"Nothing much," Drusilla replied.
"Nothing much?" Enoch turned to face her, his gaze sharp. "I allowed you to stay with the Taylors so you could help me find Odette. Remember your purpose. Harlan is Lilith's husband; they're married. If I catch you flirting with him, there will be consequences."
His words were very harsh.
Drusilla laughed lightly, trying to ease the tension.
Enoch frowned, "What's so funny?"
"Just relax!" Drusilla playfully retorted. "Why would I waste my time with him when I could be spending it with you? You're richer, kinder... I'd have to be crazy to choose him over you."
