Drusilla ignored Harlan and headed upstairs, only to find that Colton and Cormac were still not back. They had gone over to Verena's in the afternoon to check out the new clothes Blythe had bought for them.
Glancing at the clock, Drusilla realized it was getting late and decided to give Verena a call.
Verena picked up swiftly, “Hey, dear.”
“Haven’t you guys come back yet?” Drusilla frowned.
Verena replied, “Hold on, we’ll be there soon. I’m just about to catch a cab.”
“I’ll wait for you guys then,” Drusilla said.
After tidying up the house, it was almost an hour later when Drusilla saw Verena arriving with the two little ones in tow.
Dressed in the new outfits Blythe had picked out, Colton and Cormac looked absolutely dashing.
The moment they saw Drusilla, they rushed to hug her.
Holding the two kids, Drusilla looked at Verena and asked, “Why are you back so late?”
They were supposed to be back much earlier.
Verena explained, “Oh, you won’t believe it! Lilith dropped by my place tonight.”
Hearing Lilith's name, Drusilla paused. “What did she come for?” she asked.
“To see the kids!” Verena said. “She thought I was their mom, so she came over to check on these two. I have no idea how she found my address. We ended up chatting for a bit, and that’s why we’re late.”
“Didn’t spill the beans, did you?” Drusilla was slightly worried.
“Don’t worry! Of course not,” Verena assured as she lay herself comfortable on the couch. “Lilith really took a liking to these kids!”
“She’d be the odd one out if she didn’t.” Drusilla mused, recalling Lilith’s perspective where these kids symbolized her hopes of dashing away herself.
Verena commented, “She seems nice enough. I wonder how she ended up with that jerk Harlan.”
Hearing Verena, Drusilla smirked, “I was thinking the same.”
Harlan was indeed a jerk!
