Stepping out of the hospital, Drusilla sat next to her father in the car, a reminder of how long it had been since they last spent time together.

Leander broke the silence, "Drusilla, marrying Enoch hasn’t been too hard on you, has it?"

"No, not at all. He’s a good man and really nice to me," Drusilla reassured him, although she could tell her father still harbored the same weight of concerns.

Back when the Taylor family proposed, they initially sought Drusilla's hand, but she was already married to Harlan then. Hestia, eager to connect their family with the Taylors, had offered Odette instead.

Drusilla, noticing her father’s silence, asked, "Dad, Odette hasn’t checked in on you since you've been sick?"

He then remarked, "She didn’t want to marry into the Taylors because of Enoch's disability. You’ve also lost your mind. If you learned a thing or two about being shrewd from her, you won’t be like this now.”

“Marrying Enoch isn’t that bad. So what if he’s got a limp?" she bit back.

"But it's not like it can't be treated!" Drusilla thought to herself, though she didn’t voice this to her father.

After all, her marriage with Enoch wasn’t real.

Leander said, "You're not in your right mind. Marriage is for life, and you will have to serve him when he is old. There will be times when you suffer."

Drusilla looked at her father and her lips curved, "Dad, you still love me."
