Twins - The Unforeseen Legacy of My Ex's Uncle-in-Law novel Chapter 14

Hestia said, “Don’t you just want Odette to come back and marry Enoch? Well... the Lawson family has actually got another daughter, and she’s quite a catch – beautiful and well-educated. She’ll be here any minute. Please take a look at her. Why not let her take Odette’s place, if it’d work out?”

Enoch’s in a wheelchair now, and they still expect Odette to marry him? No way!

Drusilla stood at the doorway, frowning upon hearing her stepmother’s words.

She came to visit her father, but from what her stepmother suggested, it seemed she was being pitched to replace Odette.

She remembered Odette’s marriage.

Originally, the marriage was arranged by their grandfathers. It was a sort of childhood betrothal.

After Drusilla and Harlan got together, Odette became the new fiancée. After she divorced Harlan, Odette had gloated about marrying into wealth, quite smugly so.

What did she take her for?

No wonder her stepmother had so kindly informed her of her father’s illness. It was all because of this.

Oberon, hearing Hestia’s suggestion, scoffed, “Leander Lawson’s other daughter is already divorced. You think we’d have Mr. Taylor marry a woman who’s been married before? Even with a broken leg, Mr. Taylor deserves better than a divorcee.”

They only wanted Odette back because she had the audacity to leave, which was infuriating...

“If we can’t get her back, then brace for bankruptcy!” Oberon declared before walking out of the room, followed by two men in suits, looking intimidating.

Hestia hurried after him, “Oberon, please, let’s talk this over…”
