Twins - The Unforeseen Legacy of My Ex's Uncle-in-Law novel Chapter 36

Spending all her time on him, what about her two kids? And what about next month's rent?

Their rent was due quarterly, and with this month coming to an end, payment time was looming.

Originally, Drusilla had come to take care of Enoch, thinking the Taylor family's generous compensation would cover her rent worries. But family issues led her to waive the fee.

She needed to find another way.

Seeing her concern, Enoch, with a magnanimous air, said, "All this talk, you're just after money, right? If you play nice, make grandpa and the rest of the family happy, I'll pay you. And it’ll be more than you'd make elsewhere."

"Oh, really?" Drusilla responded quickly, her eyes lighting up at the prospect of money.

Enoch was taken aback. He had expected her to coldly refuse, but her eager acceptance threw him off. Maybe she was trying to trick him.

But it was just money, and he had plenty to spare.

"I'll give you twenty thousand a month," he declared.

"Twenty thousand?" Drusilla's eyes widened in disbelief.

Enoch scoffed, "Don't get greedy now. Twenty thousand is generous."

Drusilla didn't find it low at all; she was just surprised by Enoch's generosity. To play along as his wife for his family and earn twenty thousand a month? It seemed like a dream. She had tried all sorts of jobs to support her kids, even interviewing for high-paying tech jobs that demanded all her time – time she didn't have because of her children.

Then she became an acupuncturist, which paid decently under a good boss, barely making ends meet.

But she had never imagined joining the ranks of those making twenty thousand a month.
