Enoch spoke up, "I've heard about the scuffle between Harlan and the others. Seems like there's blame to go around, mistakes were made on both sides. You wanted an apology, right? Well, I agree with your initial suggestion. We're all family here, so let's just say sorry and call it even."
Lilith couldn't believe her ears. Just an apology from Drusilla and that's it?
No way!
Demanding an apology had been one thing before she knew the full extent of Drusilla's misdeeds.
But now...
She argued, "Just letting her off with an apology? That's way too easy!"
Drusilla, with lips pursed and fists clenched, had no intention of apologizing. She would never apologize to Harlan!
Enoch glanced at Drusilla, her anger evident, and his expression grew complex.
Harlan, sitting to the side, knew Lilith was particularly stubborn when angry. She would do anything to get Drusilla out, regardless.
Yet, he didn't want to cross Enoch or be the bad guy, so he pretended to side with Lilith, "Lilith, Uncle Enoch's given his word. Let's just accept the apology and move on."
Lilith shot Harlan a look. "No way! You're just too soft-hearted! An apology won't stop her from pushing you around again. She's only here because she thinks you're an easy target!"
Overhearing their exchange, Enoch smiled slightly and corrected Lilith, "You seem to be mistaken. When did I ever say Drusilla should apologize? I meant your husband owes your Aunt Drusilla an apology. That will settle the matter."
"What?" Lilith was flabbergasted. Harlan was supposed to apologize?
Had Enoch lost his mind?
She stared at Enoch and shouted, "But it was clearly her fault! She even hit Harlan!"
