Twins - The Unforeseen Legacy of My Ex's Uncle-in-Law novel Chapter 57

"You're really rolling in it now, huh?" It could be because she had two kids now, but Drusilla always seemed to prioritize buying stuff for them. Even her own clothes were bargains from the clearance rack.

She really hadn't splurged on herself.

Of course, the Lawson family had been quite comfortable back in the day, though they were never extravagant, just an average family.

Althea said, "Not too shabby. Life's mysteries, right? I used to be so jealous of you back in school. Wanted everything you had – a good home, top grades. Glad I didn't end up exactly like you though...you know?"

Drusilla's lips twitched in a forced smile. "Yeah."

Althea then asked, "What brings you here? Looking for Mr. Taylor?"

"I'm an acupuncturist now, been treating Mr. Taylor these past few days," Drusilla explained.

"Oh, is that right?" Althea seemed surprised. "Does that pay well? I thought you'd go for something more...prestigious."

And that was it?

Listening to Althea's tone, dripping with superiority, Drusilla didn't quite know how to respond. "I think my job is pretty decent."

It's not like it's dishonorable or anything!

Althea boasted, "Well, I'm currently the face of a brand under the Taylor Group. They pay me millions a year. We should grab dinner sometime, my treat."

"Thanks," Drusilla replied, lifting the corners of her mouth slightly.

Not only did Althea look down on her, but Drusilla was starting to question her own choices.

What was she thinking, wanting to have kids with Harlan at such a young age?

And now, Althea felt bold enough to flaunt her success in her face.

Fortunately, Enoch's meeting wrapped up soon after. He approached in his wheelchair, accompanied by Oberon.
