Twins - The Unforeseen Legacy of My Ex's Uncle-in-Law novel Chapter 61

Enoch quipped, “You think I'm going to give her that chance?”

Drusilla let a small smile play on her lips. “Mr. Taylor, that sounds like a business decision to me. I’ve promised not to meddle in your affairs.”

“Good, you’ve got some sense in you.”

She hadn’t forgotten their agreement!

That’s a relief!

He certainly didn’t fancy the idea of dealing with a fool every day.

Drusilla added, “Though… I heard from her that you dropped her as the brand ambassador because she was dating someone?”

“One of the reasons,” Enoch replied.

“Oh.”

Quietly, Drusilla took a bite of her steak.

Seeing that she wasn’t going to probe further, Enoch asked, “Aren’t you curious about the other reasons?”

“Not particularly,” Drusilla said. “You just complimented me on being sensible.”

She was indeed sensible!

Enoch didn’t expect her to use his own words against him. He snorted, “Because she badmouthed you in front of me.”

Drusilla, who was sipping her soup, almost choked upon hearing this. She dabbed at her mouth with a napkin, pausing to look at Enoch. “Why would you care if she spoke ill of me?”

Enoch was taken aback by her question.

Indeed, why should he care if others badmouthed her?

He had defended her, and now he had to explain why?

In that moment, Enoch wished he could kick himself.

He shouldn’t have bothered protecting this ungrateful woman!

With a cold demeanor, he scrambled for an excuse, “I just can’t stand people who talk behind others’ backs. Bad character. Is it so wrong for me to dislike her for that?”

“Not at all. You’re Enoch Taylor. Whatever you decide is always right,” Drusilla said.
