Serge chuckled, "Glad to see you're okay. I was genuinely worried about you for a sec! But looks like there might be hope for your leg after all!"
"Let's hope," Enoch replied, albeit with a hint of uncertainty.
At the end of the day, things seemed to be moving in the right direction.
Yawning, Serge announced, "Well, I'm off to bed," before he made his exit from the hospital room.
Seeing Serge leave and that Enoch was fine, Drusilla said, "Guess I'll be heading out too."
It was a relief Enoch was okay!
Drusilla was just there to check up on him.
As she turned to leave, Enoch called out, "Wait."
Drusilla paused and looked back at him, curious.
"I've decided to reward you for coming to see me so late," Enoch said.
"Reward?" The word piqued Drusilla's interest, thinking perhaps Enoch, ever the generous one, was about to give her some cash.
Her finances were tight, and his thoughtfulness was touching.
But then Enoch said, "So, I'm letting you stay tonight to keep me company."
Drusilla was momentarily speechless, her look filled with skepticism. Reward, he calls it?
She definitely wasn't keen on the idea!
Why should she stay if he was fine, especially with Oberon around?
Yet, Drusilla tried not to show her reluctance too clearly.
"I should really get going. The kids are home alone, and I'm worried about them," she tried to excuse herself.
"They're probably asleep by now. What's there to worry about?" Enoch countered, looking at Drusilla, who seemed to be making a big deal out of a simple request.
It almost felt like she wanted him to beg her to stay!
"But it's just that... leaving two kids at home... I'm concerned," Drusilla insisted.
"Why did you come to the hospital, then?" Enoch questioned.
