Chapter 657
“Okay, Mr. Beltran. I’ll have someone check if the Harmon heiress’s convalescent home in Kralville really needs a new director.”
After hanging up, Xavier saw that Aveline still hadn’t replied to his messages, so he drove to
Garden Estate.
Her not replying just gave him an excuse to go see her.
Worrying that she was sick was a perfectly good reason to go check on her.
Miranda opened the door for Xavier and was surprised to see him in workout clothes, clearly having come straight from exercising.
Xavier came in and asked, “Are my maternal grandparents and Aveline not up yet?”
Miranda replied, “The old couple went out to exercise. Aveline is still sleeping.”
Xavier thought, she’s still sleeping, so how did she reply to Sebastian’s text?
“Isn’t she going for a run today?”
“Well, I wouldn’t know about that. Maybe since it’s the weekend, she wanted to sleep in.‘

Hearing this, Xavier thought, Miranda didn’t say she wasn’t feeling well, so that’s probably not it.
So what was Sebastian talking about? Was it an excuse because Aveline didn’t want to go running?
The thought of Aveline not wanting to run with Sebastian cheered Xavier up.
He wanted to go upstairs to see Aveline, so he said to Miranda, “I just went for a run by the sea and haven’t had breakfast yet. Please prepare a portion for me. I’ll wait for my maternal grandparents to come back and eat with them.”
“Alright.”
Miranda said, then went into the kitchen.
Xavier took the opportunity to go upstairs.

Since Aveline was at her maternal grandparents‘ house, she didn’t lock the door. Xavier pushed down the handle, opened the door, and walked in quietly.
He saw Aveline lying in bed, her eyes tightly shut. She didn’t notice him and was clearly still fast asleep.
Xavier stood by the bed, gazing at Aveline’s sleeping face, realizing it had been a long time since
he’d looked at her like this.
He wanted to touch her, or kiss her, but he was afraid of waking her up.
After watching Aveline for a while, Xavier felt satisfied. He looked down at himself and decided he should take a shower first.
As he turned to leave, he saw the phone on the nightstand. He picked it up, entered the password to unlock it, and looked at the messages.
Sebastian had indeed texted Aveline early in the morning, asking if she wanted to go for a run by the sea. She had replied, saying she wasn’t feeling well and wouldn’t go.
It seemed Sebastian hadn’t lied to him.
Xavier put the phone back, glanced at Aveline, and wondered if she really wasn’t feeling well, or if she had just made an excuse because she didn’t want to run with Sebastian.
Of course, he hoped she just didn’t want to run with Sebastian.
Xavier had spare clothes in his car. He went downstairs to the front yard to get them from his car, then came back upstairs and went to the guest room to shower.
After his shower, Aveline still wasn’t up. Xavier just sat on the sofa, picked up the book Aveline had left on the nightstand, and waited for her to wake up.
He didn’t know how much time had passed. Xavier was engrossed in his book when the phone beside him started ringing.
Xavier was startled, afraid of waking Aveline. He quickly grabbed the phone and silenced the call. It was from Amy.
Then he looked over at Aveline.
Aveline was woken up anyway. Thinking it was her phone ringing, she opened her rolled over to grab the phone on her nightstand, but then she heard a deep male voice,
