Wedding My Ex’s Uncle
Chapter 161 Calling Out Kaia’s Name
She said softly, “I can focus on my work after the baby.”
A flicker of desire lit up in Alden’s eyes.
“Alright,” he murmured.
If she wanted a baby, he’d give her one.

The room was filled with a romantic vibe. After a night of passion and a drink or two, Alden crashed into a deep sleep.
Luna’s body ached all over, but her heart was as sweet as if it were dripping with honey.
She leaned over and gently kissed Alden’s cheek with her soft lips.
But the next second, Alden rolled over and pulled her into his
arms.
Then he mumbled, voice low and thick with sleep.
“Kaia… let’s get back together, okay? Come back to me, Kaia…”
Luna froze.

Kaia.
It’s always Kaia.
He was calling out Kaia’s name in his sleep!
She bit her lip hard to hold back the sobs threatening to escape. Regret welled up inside her like a rising tide.
If she’d known it would turn out like this, why had she fought so hard to marry Alden?
That night, Luna cried herself to sleep, from nightfall till dawn.

The next morning, Kaia stretched lazily–until her hand brushed against something firm and warm.
Startled, she yanked her hand back like she’d touched fire.
Wait… why is there someone else in my bed?
Her eyes flew open.
Lucien’s face came into view, just inches from hers.
His usual cold edge was softened by sleep. A few strands of hair had fallen across his forehead, making him look almost boyish.

His eyes were still closed, and his thick lashes–so long they could’ve belonged to a mascara ad–cast gentle shadows on his cheeks.
Kaia blinked, dazed. Then, on a wild impulse, she reached out, tempted to pluck one of those ridiculously long lashes–just to
compare.
But before her fingers made contact, Lucien’s eyes opened.
Kaia froze, heart skipping a beat.
She yanked her hand back and cleared her throat awkwardly. “Ahem! You’re awake!”
Lucien’s lips curled into a faint, knowing smile. “What were you doing just now?”
Caught red–handed, Kaia rolled over in a panic. “Nothing! There was, um… something in your eye. I was trying to help.”
He squinted at her, amused. “Something in my eye?”
“Yeah, yeah!” she insisted, not sounding remotely convincing.
Then she suddenly froze.
“Why are you in my bed?!”
Lucien raised an eyebrow, clearly enjoying this. “Take a good

look. Whose room do you think this is?”
She blinked at the gray quilt cover, the matching sheets, the clean minimalist decor.
Oh my god…
This was his guest room–the one he usually used.
Kaia’s face turned pink.
“Hehe… maybe I wandered into the wrong room last night.”
Before he could reply, she tossed the covers aside and tried to scramble out of bed–only to be pulled back gently by a firm arm around her waist.
She stumbled right into his chest, and before she could react, Lucien’s other hand cradled the back of her head.
He leaned in.
His lips brushed against hers in a soft, quick kiss—featherlight, but enough to leave her stunned.
Then he pulled back, eyes gleaming.
“See clearly now? Any more gunk in my eyes?”
Kaia’s ears turned bright red. She couldn’t even look at him.

When Luna got up that morning, her eyes were still puffy from crying all night.
It wasn’t until breakfast that Alden finally noticed something was off.
“What’s up with your eyes?” he asked, frowning.
Luna quickly shook her head. “Maybe it’s a sty.”
Then, as if changing the subject, she added lightly, “Alden, you’ve been so busy lately, and we never got around to a honeymoon. How about helping me land a spot on a variety show? I could use the exposure to promote my album.”
The plagiarism scandal from before had been a major embarrassment. Her team had scrambled to change the album cover and swap out the lead single. But damage had already been done.
As a newcomer in the industry, Luna knew that public memory was short–and appearing on a few variety shows might help scrub that stain away.
If Alden couldn’t give her the emotional support she needed,

Alden looked mildly surprised. “Didn’t you say something about wanting a baby yesterday?”
Luna forced a smile. “It’s not like those two things cancel each other out.”
“…Okay then.”
It was a small request. Alden wasn’t about to say no.
“I’ll be at the office,” he said, standing. “I’ll have someone keep
an eye out for a decent show.”

Luna beamed. “Thanks, Alden! You’re the best.”
The sweet talk wasn’t just for show–it gave Alden a
much–needed ego boost after everything that had happened with
Kaia.

Jude was pretty pleased with his handiwork last night.
As soon as Kaia stepped into the law firm, she saw Jude winking at her.
“Jude, are you having a twitch in your eye?”

“Hey, watch your mouth! Come on, into my office!”
Kaia dropped the playful act and followed him in.
“I called you in because that jerk came to the firm looking for you yesterday. He made up some excuse about a dinner to see you.”
Kaia frowned a bit. “You mean Alden?”
Jude rolled his eyes. “Yeah, that guy. I had him drink a lot. He’s probably feeling awful today.”
Kaia never expected Jude to stick his neck out like that and risk annoying one of the firm’s big clients for her sake.
Touched, Kaia opened her mouth to say something heartfelt.
But Jude waved her off with a grin. “Alright, cut the mushy stuff. Let’s get to the point when’s the big day?”
He squinted at her playfully. “Don’t you want your wedding gift or what?”
A warm feeling bloomed in Kaia’s chest. “Next month,” she said, smiling. “Thanks, Jude. I won’t be shy about taking it!”
She added with a teasing glance, “But hey, you might wanna ease up on the booze. You’re forty, you know.”

Jude scowled. “So what if I’m forty? That’s when the real action starts!”
He knew she was right. But in his position, drinking was hard to avoid. He’d just have to pace himself.
Then, as if remembering something, Jude said, “Oh–by the way. Alex mentioned something yesterday. Sounds like our law firm might be getting involved in a variety show.”
Kaia blinked. “A variety show?”
