Kaia blinked. “Wait–Jude, you’re going to be a mentor on one of those?”

Jude let out a long sigh. “Looks like it. We’ll see what Alex says in a few days.”

Kaia didn’t think too much of it.

It was Friday–the day she was due back at the Graves Manor for dinner.

Lucien’s car had a license plate that drew attention wherever it went, so she asked him to park by the side entrance.

A few minutes before work ended, she slipped out and got into the car unnoticed.

Lucien was already lounging in the back seat, his posture relaxed, a small smile playing on his lips.

“You really that afraid of your coworkers finding out?” he asked, amused.

Kaia glanced at Lucien, then asked cautiously, “By the way… my mentor, Mr. Halston–Jude. He’s been guiding me since I started my career, and he’s always treated me really well.”

She hesitated for half a second before continuing, “After he found out I got married, he said he wanted to meet you. Would you open to that?”

His voice was calm, but there was no mistaking the eagerness beneath it.

“I’m always available. We’ll work around his schedule.”

Kaia raised an eyebrow slightly.

As they pulled up to the Graves Manor, Kaia still felt a little

uneasy.

This time, she was stepping inside with a different identity.

At the sound of her calling him Allen, Alyssa blinked in surprise.

That’s when it hit her for real–her best friend’s status had truly changed.

She nudged Kaia with a grin. “Aunt Kaia, where’s my gift? Didn’t bring me anything?”

Kaia gave her a side “Cut it out.”

Alyssa turned to Lucien with a giggle. “Uncle Lucien, I’m not wrong calling her Aunt Kaia, right?”

A few minutes later, Alden finally arrived.

As he stepped inside and saw the whole family seated and chatting, his gaze landed on Lucien–sitting beside Kaia, carefully picking fishbones from her plate.

His steps faltered. He froze, stunned.

Zane caught the hesitation and called out lightly, “Alden, dinner’s already started. Why are you so late?”

“You’re the only one we were waiting on,” he added.
