Kaia was touching up her makeup when Tobias approached.
“Kaia, you really embarrassed me in front of our relatives today.”
Tobias had tried to hold it in, but in the end, he couldn’t help confronting her. If he didn’t speak up now, what if she refused to let him walk her down the aisle later?
“What are you talking about?” Kaia asked, seigning innocence.
“Lucien should’ve addressed me as his father, don’t you think?”
Kaia let out a silent, dismissive laugh. “Sorry to disappoint, but there’s no such part in today’s ceremony,” she said, glancing at him with a spark of mockery in her eyes”
“Dad, you didn’t seriously think Lucien would call you ‘Dad‘ in front of all these society elites, did you? If I had the power to make him do that, you’d have heard it already. But since I don’t, feel free to bring it up with him yourself.”
With that, she set her makeup brush down, lifted her gown slightly, and walked off toward the welcome area, leaving Tobias standing there, his face pale with frustration.
True to her word, Kaia had asked the emcee to remove every

single part of the ceremony that involved her father. She did it herself, just before the program began.
Lucien didn’t ask why the change was made last minute. This was their wedding, and as far as he was concerned, Kaia’s word was final.
A giant crystal fountain rippled gently at the center of the ballroom. Beside it stood a black grand piano, where a world–renowned musician played live.
The trickling water and the graceful melody complemented each other beautifully.
Kaia held onto Alden’s arm, smiling through every photo and pleasantry as she greeted the guests arriving one after another.
Her face had started to go numb from all the smiling.
Luna and Alden arrived last, arms linked. At her own wedding, Luna hadn’t had a fountain like this.
She certainly hadn’t hired a pianist either. Standing here now, the comparison made her own wedding look embarrassingly simple.
Lucien glanced their way and then gently patted Kaia’s hand. “You should head inside and change. The ceremony’s about to start.”

In other words, he’d take care of these two himself.
“Uncle Lucien, congratulations,” Alden said, though the tightness in his jaw betrayed how forced the words were.

Luna offered a half–hearted smile and echoed the sentiment.
Lucien didn’t care.
What he did enjoy, however, was the look on their faces—the awkwardness of having to show up when they clearly didn’t want to, knowing they had no other choice.
“Go on in,” Lucien said calmly, his tone leaving no room for warmth.
He couldn’t stand the sight of them.
Several guests nearby, who hadn’t yet entered the ballroom, glanced toward the couple. It was enough to catch a glimpse of the fractures within the Graves family.
Alden stiffened but didn’t dare show Lucien any attitude.
Allen wayed them off. “Go inside.”
Better not to see them at all.
Then the glittering lights of the ballroom went dark in an

A massive starlit screen slowly unfolded from the ceiling,

revealing a dazzling view of a galaxy filled with billions of stars. It was a breathtaking opening.
Kaia stood at the entrance, watching as the screen played a montage of footage from their wedding photoshoot. Every frame pulled her back to that joyful day.
The lights hit her face just right. The guests, who had all been focused on the stars moments ago, now turned their attention to the breathtaking bride.
Kaia held her bouquet tightly. Kayla and Alyssa followed behind her, step by step, escorting her down the aisle.
Tobias‘ face turned red and then pale. He hadn’t believed she would actually cut him out, but she had.
She really didn’t care how this made him look.
From start to finish, including the exchange of rings and the kiss, Tobias never made it onstage.
Allen, however, stepped up and said a few words on behalf of the families.
When it was time for the bouquet toss, Kaia turned her back to the group of bridesmaids and groomsmen and tossed the bouquet high into the air.

Kayla had no interest and stepped aside. Alyssa did the same.
But Calvin? Calvin was eyeing that bouquet like a prize he had to
win.
He cracked his knuckles, ready to dive for it and impress Kayla somehow.
But just as the bouquet flew into the air, Landon–who had secured the perfect spot–leapt up and snatched it with ease.
Calvin pressed his lips together. “Landon, give it to me.
Landon smirked lazily, hugging the bouquet to his chest. “Nope. I caught it fair and square. Why should I give it to you?”
“You don’t even have a girlfriend! What do you need it for?” Calvin was fuming.
Landon raised an eyebrow. “‘Oh yeah? Watch me get cuffed before you.”
As he said it, his eyes drifted toward a familiar silhouette.
At the same time, Kaia got helped by the bridesmaids to the back to change into her reception dress again.

What she didn’t know was that a middle–aged man was quietly wiping away a tear as he watched her disappear behind the curtain.
“Malcolm, are you crying?” Desmond looked at his longtime friend, Malcolm Vane, and fought the urge to laugh.
Malcolm shook his head. “No. Just got something in my eye.”
Desmond Barnes, Calvin’s older brother, had received an invitation to the wedding.
Malcolm had just returned from overseas and was curious to see what modern weddings looked like, so Desmond brought him along.
But moved to tears? Really?
Desmond wasn’t convinced, but he didn’t press.
!
“Well, look at you, getting all emotional,” he said with a chuckle.
Malcolm sniffled. “Yeah, it was moving. I just hope the groom treats her right.”
What was he even worried about? It was not like this had anything to do with him.
