Malcolm muttered under his breath, “No wonder he looks so

“What was that?” Desmond squinted.

“Nothing. Didn’t say anything.”

“I should leave a gift before I go,” Malcolm said, rising from his seat. “It’d feel wrong to just walk out without leaving anything.”

With that, he headed straight toward the guest registration table at the entrance of the ballroom.

Desmond blinked after him.

Was everyone who came back from overseas this generous?

Did they just have money burning holes in their pockets?

“Hi, I’d like to leave a wedding gift.”

One of the Graves family’s attendants smiled politely and handed him the registry book.

Malcolm pulled out an envelope he had prepared ahead of time instead of bringing a physical gift.

The attendant felt the envelope–thin–and casually dropped

it into the box without much thought. Then he glanced at the name Malcolm had written down.

“Malcolm Vane.”

The name didn’t ring any bells. He was almost certain Lucien hadn’t invited anyone named Malcolm Vane.

After the wedding, Lucien leaned against Kaia with a faint scent of alcohol on his breath, half–asleep.

“Lucien, are you okay? Do you need help? The ceremony’s over. Let’s go home.”

Before she could guide him away, Calvin and the others pounced.

“Lucien, don’t leave yet! Come out for round two. Let’s keep drinking,”

Lucien swatted Calvin’s hand away with force. “Don’t touch me! Who even are you? Only my wife gets to touch me.”

After saying goodbye to Kayla and the others, she helped Lucien into the car.

Allen stepped forward. “Kaia, we really appreciate you taking care of Lucien. He’s lucky to have you.”

As he spoke, he noticed Lucien, sprawled in the backseat, crack one eye open. Allen sneered internally.

So that’s it. I knew it. He’s faking it.

That little bit of alcohol didn’t knock him out–he was pretending.

Kaia shook her head. “Not at all, We’re heading home now.”

He stepped forward, ready to help Kaia support Lucien, but Lucien suddenly opened one eye and glared at him.

Jason backed off immediately.

Lucien collapsed on the bed and casually held up three fingers.

Kaia hesitated for a second but didn’t have time to dwell on it.

“All right. Enjoy your time off.”
