“Alright.” Landon finally got it.

He grinned widely, flashing his teeth. “Wait, don’t tell me you want a daughter too? Hey, I don’t blame you. Girls are the best. All soft and pink and tiny–how can anyone not love that?”

Lucien narrowed his eyes. “Focus.”

“Alright,” Landon laughed. “Eat more alkaline foods. Stuff like seaweed, potatoes, and carrots. For fruit, apples, grapes, and prunes are good.

“And tell Kaia to avoid using stainless steel or plastic utensils- ceramic or glass is better. When she bathes, warm water only. No scalding hot baths, and absolutely no hot springs.

“Feed her more egg yolks, ham, chicken, peanuts… and leafy greens like spinach and broccoli. Actually, just go look it up online.”

Lucien frowned. That sounds like a lot.

“You know what,” he said, “just make me a meal plan by

tomorrow.”

Landon blinked. “Excuse me?”

Serious? I don’t have time for this caring menu.

In the car, Kaia had her eyes closed. She was exhausted.

Lucien’s gaze softened. “Alright. Close your eyes. There’s still a little time left on the drive.”

Though he was already thinking–once she rested now, she’d better be ready to stay awake later.

When they arrived, Lucien carried her upstairs in his arms.

He undressed her carefully, piece by piece, and tucked her straight into bed. This was the first time she’d gone to sleep without showering.

He pulled the blanket over her, then quietly unpacked their luggage and took it all to the closet. After that, he headed to the bathroom. And then he was out with the “trash“.

She groaned and lazily swatted at him with her soft hand. “You’re so annoying. You’re the one who stinks!”

His voice dropped an octave, and his Adam’s apple bobbed slightly as he waited for her response. When she didn’t move, he took her silence as permission.
