Chapter 76 After We’re Married
Kaia smiled slightly, “I wouldn’t dare. Just asking since you and Sally are so close and all.”
Tobias fell silent.
Sally and Kimberly moved to Riverside Manor in complete humiliation. Sure, it was a luxury penthouse, but nothing compared to the comfort of their villa. ·
Kimberly stared at her room—half the size she was used to—and angrily threw everything to the floor.
Sally’s expression turned cold. “Kimberly, instead of throwing a tantrum, you should be thinking about finding someone powerful to back you up.
“Forget about Alden-he’s not right for you. He won’t help you deal with that little bitch either. You need to aim higher.”
Kimberly’s face changed. “Mom, are you saying…”
“Yes, only that man can help you turn things around.”
A flash of malice crossed Sally’s eyes.
If Kimberly could get with the Graves family’s heir, would she still need to fear Kaia?
Even if Kaia managed to win Alden’s heart back, compared to that man, Alden was nothing.
Kimberly remembered seeing him with Kaia at Claire’s funeral, and her resolve wavered.
Will he really be interested in me?
“Kimberly, he won’t be easy to catch, but there are ways. If you can get pregnant with his child first, I have plenty of methods to get you married into the Graves family.”
Kimberly pictured the man’s tall frame and his perfectly sculpted face.
If she could be in his arms, she’d be more than willing. Her cheeks flushed as she looked down shyly.
“Mom, I understand.”

Kaia had borrowed Lucien’s bodyguards and finally gotten her revenge. Apparently, using someone else’s power felt pretty damn good.
She stood by the window and called Lucien. He picked up on the first ring.
His deep, husky voice came through the phone. “Hey, everything taken care of?”
“Yeah,” Kaia said with a soft laugh. “All handled.”
“Thanks, Lucien.”
His low voice carried a slight upturn. “Just a ‘thanks’?”
Kaia’s heart skipped a beat.
She knew Lucien was interested in her-probably because of her looks.
She had prepared herself for that. If you wanted to use someone’s influence, you had to offer something in return. That was the unspoken rule.
She thought she was ready.
But now that the moment was actually here… she froze.
Maybe it would be easier to accept-after they were officially married?
The thought made her feel sick with self-loathing. But even so, she couldn’t help it. The fear of what he might ask for still clung to her like a second skin.
Her voice came out softer than she expected.
“Lucien, could we… maybe wait until after we’re married?”
Lucien stilled. “After we’re married?”
“Mm.” She closed her eyes. “I’ll… thank you properly. Once we’re legally married. Okay?”
There was a pause. Then his voice came, a shade colder than before. “Oh?”
A faint edge crept in.
“Then tell me—how exactly do you plan to thank me then?”
Kaia was speechless.
How am I supposed to answer that?
“Kaia, do you really think I’m some kind of pervert? There’s a finance gala this weekend, and I need a date. Come with me.”
Kaia wanted to smack herself for being so stupid.
“I’m sorry, Lucien.”
All she could hear through the phone was his breathing. She

thought he was genuinely angry.
“Lukey, I’m sorry.”
In her eagerness to make things right, she didn’t realize how sweet and pleading her voice sounded.
Lucien’s breathing quickened, but his voice remained calm. “Alright. I’ll pick you up Saturday.”
After hanging up, Lucien looked down at his aroused body.
Really? One little “Lukey,” and you’re already this excited?
eyes.
He leaned back on the couch and closed his eyes, her voice echoing in his mind over and over again.
It would be even better if she called Lukey to his face.

The next day, when Kaia arrived at Ease Electronics, Megan greeted her with an eager, ingratiating smile.
It’s weird.
