Lucien’s eyes grew dark and intense, his breath coming out hot between his lips. His Adam’s apple bobbed slightly as he spoke, “I’m not sick. I’ve been drugged.”

Kaia froze, her mind going completely blank. “What kind of drug?”

The man let out a low, mocking laugh. “An aphrodisiac. You said you wanted to thank me earlier. Well, I’m ready to collect on that now.”

Before she could react, his burning lips crashed down on hers.

Kaia never expected him to kiss her.

His burning palm gripped the back of her head, while the other hand wrapped tightly around her waist.

She was pulled flush against him, no space left between them.

She turned her back to him. “I should call 911.”

She’d been drugged once herself and knew exactly how it felt —like millions of ants crawling through your bones, eating you alive from the inside out.

There was no way in hell Kaia was giving him an antidote.

The only response she got was the sound of running water.

Kaia couldn’t sit still. She should leave right now, but thinking about Lucien in there, wouldn’t it be kind of heartless to walk away?
