Alden shifted uncomfortably. “It’s brand new! Kaia, I bought this one specifically for you. She never wore it!”

Kaia’s lips twitched into a sarcastic smile.

“Then I definitely can’t take it. Matching outfits aren’t the problem–it’s who looks worse that gets embarrassed.

“If your precious little sister gets outshone by me later, she’ll probably blame me. I might not have much money, but I can afford my dress. Just save it!”

For days now, Alden couldn’t get the image of Kaia in that dress out of his head. He insisted stubbornly, “But you really liked it, didn’t you?”

Kaia glanced at him with cool indifference. “It doesn’t matter how much I liked it. If Luna wants it, I don’t want it anymore.”
