Jonathan wore a simple white shirt and black slacks as he sat at the dining table, scrolling through the latest financial news on his iPad.

When he saw Anneliese come out, he set the tablet down and asked, “Are you going to the hospital after breakfast?”

Anneliese sat down beside him, noticing that Mabel had already set breakfast on the table.

She picked up a custard bun, took a bite, and nodded. “Yeah, I’ll visit Grandma first, then head to the airport to pick up Prof. Clocke and the others. In the afternoon, they’re meeting the investor from the lab, and I’ll go with them.”

Jonathan smiled at her. “Sounds good.”

Anneliese turned to him. “What do you mean by that?”

“Your plan’s solid. After you meet the investors, I’ll take you to the store.”

Jonathan looked at her, amused by how embarrassed Anneliese looked. He didn’t seem awkward at all as he answered calmly, “Zion bought it. I had never used it before, so I didn’t realize it couldn’t be used.”

Anneliese froze, then turned her head and stared at him in shock. “You’ve never used it?”

He looked confused. “You’re the first woman I’ve married. Why would I have used it before?”

She was speechless.

The first night, Jonathan tricked her into staying in his room; she had seen that box of condoms in the nightstand drawer.

He even copied her tone. “Was I supposed to?”

Anneliese’s face turned red. She lowered her head and shoved the bun into her mouth, but inside, she was stunned. He’s never dated anyone? No ex? No other women at all?

How did she get so lucky? She was on her second marriage and somehow ended up with such a rare catch.

Anneliese could hardly believe it. She was still in a daze even when she got to the hospital and ran into Jessica, who came to visit Nishay.

The two of them stayed with Nishay for a while.

When they left the room, Jessica pulled her aside. “Did you get worn out last night? Did Mr. Fullbuster drain your energy?”

How did that make any sense?

Anneliese quickly covered her collar and blushed. “That’s not it. He’s fine!”

Jessica still looked doubtful. Her best friend couldn’t even manage to sleep with her own husband. Married twice already and still struggling–it was ridiculous.
