Anneliese only snapped out of it when she realized they’d left the main road. “Where are we going?” she asked, her voice filled with surprise.
Jonathan glanced at her. “Did you forget what we agreed on?”
What did we agree on?
She froze for a moment, then remembered–he’d said that morning they needed to go to the store together to restock.
Her cheeks instantly burned, and heat rushed to her ears as she realized what they were restocking. She had thought he was teasing her about buying condoms together. Yet he wasn’t joking.
He had planned it, deliberately.
While she blushed furiously, Jonathan pulled into the supermarket’s underground parking lot.
He parked, and before he could say anything, Anneliese hurriedly opened the door and stepped out, almost fleeing. Her long hair swung in soft arcs behind her. He watched her retreating figure, a smirk tugging at his lips.
With long strides, he quickly caught up and walked beside her. “What’s the rush?”
He clearly knew why but pretended not to. Anneliese slowed down and shot him a glare to hide her embarrassment. “You’re just too slow!”
Jonathan’s smile widened. He reached down and took her hand. “Oh, I see. You just can’t wait, huh?”
She yanked her hand back, stomped on his polished shoe, and spun into the elevator.
Jonathan looked down at the footprint, amused. It was the first time anyone had ever “attacked” him like that–and he found it endearing.
Anneliese had barely settled when five or six handsome college guys walked in. She stepped back politely to give them room.
The guys immediately went quiet. The tallest, best–looking one, with a stylish haircut, stepped up next to her. “Which floor? I can press the button for you,” he said with a grin.

Clearly, he was trying to start a conversation. His friends exchanged knowing looks, but Anneliese shook her head politely.
“No, thank you.”
“Don’t worry. We’re students from the nearby Sportiva University. Which school are you from? I haven’t seen you around. Want to be friends-”
A sharp intake of breath cut him off. Anneliese looked up to see a large, well–defined hand stopping the elevator doors just as they were about to close. The doors reopened, and a tall, imposing man stepped in, radiating quiet authority.
