He had been so good to her, and yet he still couldn’t compare to Grandma. Clearly, he needed to step up his game.
When Anneliese came out of the closet, she could already hear the shower running in the bathroom.
She placed the clean clothes she’d picked out on the armchair by the bathroom and knocked on the door.
“I left your clothes by the door.”
Jonathan turned off the shower, just in time to hear the quick sound of her running off.
She ran off faster than a rabbit.
But the more she acted like that, the more it made his heart itch.
All the memories from last night came flooding back—her soft, slender body, the way she melted in his arms, the way she looked when she lost herself in him. It just made him want her
even more.
When Jonathan turned the shower back on, he switched to cold water. The icy spray hit his skin, running down his neck, and his muscles tensed up, veins standing out across his shoulders and arms.
The water streamed over his chest and abs, pooling at his core.
Jonathan’s Adam’s apple bobbed as he looked down.
Tsk. It didn’t help.
Downstairs, Anneliese was in Penelope’s room, looking through photo albums.
There were plenty of pictures of Jonathan as a kid. The first one was of him as a naked baby— totally unclothed, grinning wide, his little arms and legs plump and adorable.
He looked just like a doll.
Anneliese smiled as she flipped through the photos. If they had a baby, it would probably be at least as cute as Jonathan in these pictures.

Wait a minute, what am I even thinking?
I’m still young and need to focus on my career. Why am I daydreaming about babies?

Honestly, the national birth rate probably dropped because they didn’t put baby Jonathan in the promotion ads!
She flipped one page after another. Jonathan proved what it meant to be born handsome.
Even before he lost his baby fat, he had the look of a golden, privileged little heir. By middle school, he looked like he’d stepped out of a painting. When he was in high school, he was honestly the kind of guy every girl would have a crush on.
But in all those photos, Anneliese never once spotted Elizabeth.
She clearly saw Penelope, Jonathan’s father, and grandfather in the albums.
“Grandma, can I ask why there aren’t any photos of Mrs. Fullbuster here?” Anneliese finally couldn’t help but ask.
Penelope took her hand and let out a long sigh.
“Elizabeth and Jonathan’s father had a business marriage. They had about six peaceful months after the wedding, but then…”
Penelope’s face turned a bit embarrassed. “It’s actually a bit shameful to talk about. When Elizabeth was pregnant with Jonathan, my son Kenneth made a stupid mistake and cheated on her…”
Basically, Elizabeth found out Kenneth had cheated when she was about to give birth. The shock sent her into early labor, and she had a rough delivery.
Betrayed by her husband and hurt by childbirth, Elizabeth took it all out on Jonathan.
One month after Jonathan was born, she left him behind and went overseas. Kenneth tried to win her back, but a woman like Elizabeth would never forgive a humiliation like that.
On top of that, the Fullbuster and Hoff families were tied up in business, so they couldn’t divorce.
Later, Penelope and Jonathan’s grandfather, Derek Fullbuster, tried to make up for it by giving Elizabeth 5% of Fullbuster Group’s shares, hoping she’d at least stop resenting her own child for the sake of the money.
