Natalie took in every single one of their faces, memorizing them. Good. Very good.

Her hands clenched so tightly that her nails dug into her palms, drawing blood without her even realizing it.

At that moment, Natalie hated her own helplessness more than anything.

Wonne managed to dodge a few attacks with her agility, but the tiger’s claws still tore open her arm and thigh.

Bright red blood splattered across the floor, which only seemed to excite the tiger further. Yvonne’s strength was fading fast.

She hadn’t eaten or drunk anything since being captured; now, faced with a massive predator, her vision began to blur. Am I really going to die here today?

At the same moment, a sharp scalpel sliced past Yvonne’s cheek, embedding itself directly in the tiger’s eye.

The beast’s dying roar stirred up a violent gust of dust that made everyone shield their eyes.

Baron seized the opening, cutting through the rope around Yvonne’s neck and pulling her into

his arms.

Feeling his presence, Yvonne broke down in tears.

“Baron!”

“Don’t worry,” he growled. “I’ll make this right for you today.”

Rage burned through him. Yvonne had grown up with them; she was practically his little sister. Now she was part of the Stone family–Natalie’s cousin–and yet, the Stone family’s own branch had dared to do this to her. Baron wanted nothing more than to slaughter them all.

With a few quick leaps, he carried Yvonne out of the danger zone.
