Yvonne playfully swatted Theodore’s arm. “So what if I spoil her? Honestly, even if it were two Troys, Teresa would totally deserve
them.”
Theodore was momentarily speechless, his frustration evident. “You…”
Yvonne met his gaze, unflinching. “What about me?”
Theodore’s eyes locked onto hers, his voice serious. “Did you ever think the same way?”
Yvonne, obviously teasing, stretched out her words. “Yeah, I did. So what are you going to do about it?”
Without another word, Theodore strode over, scooped Yvonne up, and, with a hint of playful punishment, gave her a double smack on the butt.
Theodore asked, gruffly, “Still thinking about it?”
Yvonne winced but refused to yield. She looped her arms around his neck, her eyes sparkling as she said, “Of course I am. Always.”
Theodore, clearly frustrated, pinned her down onto the couch.
He leaned in close, his face dark and serious as he demanded, “So, still thinking about it?”
Yvonne didn’t respond with words. She reached up, hooked her arms around his neck, and gently pulled Theodore down until their faces nearly touched.
Then, they were lost in a passionate kiss.

After all the commotion caused by Yvonne, Teresa was startled awake from her sleep.

In that instant, she sat up straight out of Troy’s arms.
Sitting at the edge of the bed, it suddenly dawned on her–Troy had actually stayed over for the entire night.
Seeing Teresa’s worried face, Troy couldn’t resist teasing her. “What’s wrong? Regretting that you let me stay over?”
Teresa, annoyed by how casual he was being, gave him a light smack. “This is all your fault. My brother’s totally going to give me an earful later.”
Troy lifted his tingling arm and wiggled it a bit, then grinned at her. “If you’re that scared, I can go talk to him for you.”
Teresa hurriedly stopped him. “No way, Troy. Please don’t go.”
Troy saw the worry lines on Teresa’s forehead and couldn’t resist another tease. “Who was the one hugging my arm like a pillow and clinging to me all night, huh? What, going to play innocent now?”
Teresa snorted at him. “Don’t twist the facts! This is all your fault. If you’d just snuck out the window earlier, we wouldn’t be in this mess.”
Troy sat up and lounged back against the headboard, looking completely laid–back and at ease, like he didn’t have a care in the world.
Seeing how nothing seemed to faze him, Teresa tried to scare him. “Acting all cool now, huh? Just wait till my brother gets here–he’s totally going to come after you”
Troy just shrugged, totally unfazed. “Let him- Even the most awkward bride has to meet the in–laws sooner or later.”
Seeing how completely unfazed Troy was, Teresa shot him a look. “Ugh, you are seriously shameless”
Troy just smirked and gave her a look. “I’m the shameless one here? Really?”
Not wanting to bicker with him any longer, Teresa muttered, Tm gonna go wash up
With that, she got up from the edge of the bed.

Troy immediately sat up too, flashing her a mischievous grin. “Need some company?”

Teresa stopped and gave him a look. “Seriously, sneak out the window now. If my brother catches you, there’s nothing I can do to help.”
Sure, Theodore said Troy could use the front door, but Teresa knew her brother’s temper way too well.
No matter what happened last night, Teresa knew her brother wouldn’t give Troy a warm welcome.
The only reason Theodore hadn’t barged in yet was probably because Yvonne was holding him back.
With that in mind, Teresa was desperate to get Troy out of there as soon as possible.
Anyway, she was his little sister. Theodore would at most scold her a couple of times, nothing serious.
Teresa had no idea if Troy had really taken her words to heart, but to her surprise, he slid right out of bed.
After he got dressed, he glanced back at Teresa, eyebrows raised, staying silent.
After a few beats, he walked right over to her.
Standing in front of her, he looked down with a lazy grin. “Told you, as long as I’m here, you don’t need to worry,” Troy said.
Before Teresa even had a chance to guess what he was up to, Troy just pulled open the bedroom door and strode right out.
Teresa broke out in a cold sweat, totally spooked by what he just did. She stared at his back and almost reflexively blurted out, “Troy, come back!”
But as soon as Troy stepped out of the bedroom, he ran right into Howard and Linda, who were just about to head downstairs.
When he saw them, Troy’s heart skipped a beat.
But he forced himself to stay calm, turned to the two of them, and flashed a friendly smile. “Morning, Mr. and Mrs. Sullivan.”
Howard and Linda froze for a second when they saw Troy.
After a quick glance at each other, they both let out a small, awkward laugh and replied, “Morning.”
Back in the bedroom, Teresa felt panic rising in her chest, leaving her completely speechless.
Troy braced himself and walked over to Howard and Linda.
Howard stared at Troy with a puzzled expression. “You…”
Troy put on a polite smile and explained, “Sir, I came over last night. It was really late, so I didn’t want to disturb you or Mrs. Sullivan. Hope that’s alright.”
Basically, he’d already done it and was only letting them know after the fact.
Howard stammered, words catching in his throat. “You… you…”
But in the end, he held back, unable to say anything harsh.
After all, if Troy was standing here, it couldn’t be just his problem–this was the Sullivan family, after all,
Seeing Howard go quiet, Troy turned to Linda. “Mrs. Sullivan, I’m heading downstairs to warm up some milk for Teresa. Would you like a cup too?”
Linda blinked, startled by his offer–but with such earnestness, she couldn’t refuse. “Oh, sure–thank you.”
Inside the house, Teresa felt cold all over. Instead of heading off to wash up, she just followed Troy downstairs.
While the two of them were busy heating up some milk in the kitchen. Theodore and Yvonne came down from upstairs.
When she heard footsteps, Teresa turied and shot Troy a sly look. “Let’s see how you get our of this one,”
Troy grinned, confidence clear in his eyes. “Winning them over so they’ll trust me with you that’s my job. All you have to think about is whether you actually want to be mine.”

Chapter 276
For a moment, Teresa was utterly stunned by what he’d just said.
Thinking back to Charles, he’d never once said anything like that to her.
Back then, Teresa had bent over backwards–gave up everything she had–for a shot at marrying him.
Whether or not Troy really meant his words, at least he was brave enough to say them out loud.
Charles, on the other hand, wouldn’t even dare to say something like that.

Catching that distant look in Teresa’s eyes, Troy figured she must be thinking about Charles again.
Troy leaned down and, with a hint of mock punishment, pinched her cheek. “Not allowed to think about him,” he said firmly.
Teresa blinked, coming back to herself, and gave a little nod. “Mm,” she murmured.
Seeing her respond like that, Troy frowned, sounding jealous. “Seriously? You really were thinking about him?”
Teresa didn’t bother to answer- -she just said quietly, “Troy, the milk’s boiling over.”
At her words, Troy rushed to lift the lid, only to jerk his hand back with a wince when the steam hit him.
He winced from the sting, dropping the lid with a quick clatter.
Teresa grabbed his hand and shoved it under the running cold water, fussing over him without thinking.
At the same time, she couldn’t hold back and snapped, “Seriously? You knew you couldn’t do it but still wanted to act all tough–see what happened? You got hurt! Satisfied now?”
Troy just watched her fuss, a gentle smile in his eyes, clearly not mad at
all.
After a moment, he grinned and said, “Hey, that’s the whole point–going for it even when you mess up, that’s what actually matters.”
Teresa let out a snort. “Such a show–off.”
