Before Charles could say anything, his phone rang. It was Richard.
“Hey, you brat, did you pick up Teresa?” Richard asked, sounding impatient.
“Yeah, I picked her up,” Charles replied.
“Good, hurry back. We’re all waiting for you,” Richard said.

Charles ended the call without another word. After putting his phone away, he turned to Teresa and said, “Once the divorce agreement is ready. I’ll contact you so you can come by and sign it.”
Teresa knew that a divorce couldn’t be rushed, especially with a family like Charles’s and the fact that they had a child. There was just too much to sort out. So, she agreed, saying, “Okay.”
Seeing her agree, Charles said, “Alright, let’s go to Logan Manor and have dinner.”
He started the car and drove off. The two of them remained silent during the drive.
Teresa thought about Richard and wasn’t sure what to do. Most people would be okay with the divorce, but Richard was different–he genuinely wanted Teresa and Charles to stay together.
They only got married in the first place because Richard pushed them to. Back then, Teresa had been grateful to him and treated him well, and Richard had always been kind to her.
But now, with the divorce on the table, she wasn’t sure how to face him.
As they waited at a red light, Teresa glanced at Charles. He was handsome, the kind of face that turned heads everywhere. Back then, Teresa had given up everything for that face, pouring all her love into him. But now, her heart was completely calm.
Looking at Charles, Teresa asked, “So what are you going to tell Richard about all this?”
Charles looked over at her and answered honestly, “I don’t know, but he won’t agree to the divorce.”
He didn’t know when it started, but Teresa’s gaze toward him had grown so cold.
After thinking it over, Teresa said, “Let’s keep it under wraps for now. Once the divorce formalities are done, you can break it to him little by little.”
Charles was stunned for a moment, then finally nodded. “Okay.”
When they arrived at Logan Manor, Susan was waiting at the door to greet them.
Charles got out of the car and didn’t open the door for Teresa, instead heading straight for the trunk. As she got out, he was closing the trunk, carrying a large box that looked like a cake.
When they walked into the living room, Teresa noticed Zack, Roselyn, and Andrew were there, but Serena wasn’t back yet.
Roselyn, usually quick to make suide remarks, was unusually quiet tonight. She didn’t say anything and just ate in silence. Teresa found it odd, but didn’t ask any questions.
Once dinner started, Richard told Charles, “Charles, help Teresa with some food”
Charles nodded. “Got it, Grandpa‘ He added a chicken leg and some ribs to Teresa’s plate.
Looking at the food piled up on her plate, Teresa said softly, “Thanks”
Andrew, siung right across from Teresa, scoffed, “What an act
Teresa just let out a quiet laugh, unbothered.
The meal went by pracefully, thanks to Roselyn’s silence
After dinner. Susan cleared the table. Charles instructed her to bring the cake to the table and light the candles before turning off the lights

Richard, who didn’t usually enjoy rich desserts, ate his slice for Teresa’s sake. Afterward, Richard looked at Teresa and said, “Teresa, can you come with me for a moment? I have something to say to you.”
Teresa had no idea what he was getting at, but she stood up and replied, “Okay.”
She helped Richard to his room, where they both sat on the edge of his bed. Teresa had expected him to ask about her situation with Charles, but to her surprise, that wasn’t the topic.
Richard said, “Serena and Roselyn had a fight. Teresa, you’re the one Serena listens to. Go talk to her, okay?”
Teresa blinked, unsure. “What happened?”
Richard explained, “Although Serena is studying medicine, Roselyn doesn’t think that’s her only path. She wants Serena to start looking for a partner. Since you’re in medicine too, maybe you can talk to her and let her know how tough it is.”
Teresa instinctively refused, “Richard, I don’t think I can talk to Serena. She probably won’t listen to me.”
Richard didn’t give up. “You won’t know unless you try. Just think of it as me asking for your help.”
Teresa couldn’t refuse his heartfelt request. “Alright, Richard, I’ll try.”
Richard nodded, relieved. “She’s at a cocktail party right now. Why don’t you go find her and have a proper chat?”
Teresa replied, “Gott, Richard.” She agreed and left his room.
As soon as she stepped out, she ran into Charles Charles glanced at her, frowning. “What did Grandpa say to you?”
Teresa didn’t explain, just replied softly. Tin stepping out for a bit.”
Charles paused then offered. Let me give you a ride.”
Teresa cut him off, her voice cool and decisive. “No need”
