When She Walks Away (Teresa) novel Chapter 155

Chapter 155

As soon as Teresa got the address from Wendy, she replied, “Got it. Keep watch for me. I’ll be right there.”

She didn’t even bother to dry her hair. She threw on some clothes and rushed out the door.

Driving over, it took her about twenty minutes to get there.

Wendy spotted Teresa’s car and hurried outside to meet her.

They walked into the restaurant together, and Wendy pointed to a private room called “Lucky Garden.” “Yvonne’s in there,” she said.

Teresa knocked on the door, and a deep male voice called out, “No need to add more dishes.

Just as the man finished speaking, Teresa heard Jason’s voice. “Ethan, she’s already drunk. Come on, she’s yours for the taking. Nights like this are worth a fortune. Don’t let such a golden opportunity slip by.”

Another man’s voice replied, “Fine, I’ll take her.”

Hearing all this, Teresa instantly realized what was happening. She lost her cool and kicked the door open.

As the door flew open, everyone inside jumped and stared at the entrance, their faces full of confusion and shock.

Inside, Teresa saw Yvonne collapsed on the table, and the man closest to her was reaching out to grab her.

There were only two men in the room–Jason and a stranger Teresa didn’t recognize.

The man reaching for Yvonne scowled when Teresa barged in. “What do you think you’re doing? You got a death wish?” he snapped.

Teresa had come prepared. She was armed with a knife.

She glared at him, her voice icy and firm. “Keep your hands off Yvonne.

The man’s eyes narrowed with curiosity as he looked Teresa up and down, his stare downright creepy and disgusting.

Jason snapped, his temper flaring. “Teresa, you’re not just shameless. You really don’t know your place, do you?”

Teresa didn’t even bother with him. She slammed a plate off the table and shot back, Jason, wipe that smug look off your face. You got Yvonne drunk and tried to hand her over. Did you really think I’d let you get away with that?”

Just then, Wendy walked in and stood beside Teresa. “We’ve already called the cops. If you’ve got something to say, save it for the police.”

Jason and the other guy instantly went pale, like they’d just seen a ghost.

They shared a look, then got up and headed for the door.

As Jason passed Teresa, he shot her a venomous glare. The other guy just smirked and said, “Interesting.”

Once they were gone, Teresa and Wendy helped Yvonne up and walked her out,

After Teresa and the others drove off, two figures lingered in the shadowsJason and the guy who’d tried to take Yvonne away.

The chilly autumn night wrapped around them as they both lit up, sharing a smoke in silence.

Jason glanced at the man, a sly grin on his face. “What a shame. Looks like you didn’t get lucky tonight.

The man ignored the comment, his eyes following Teresa’s car as it disappeared. “So that’s my sister’s love rival, huh?

Jason arched an eyebrow. “That’s right.”

Ethan Yates was Naomi Yates’s older brother.

Jason helped Ethan out in business, mostly because of his connection to Naomi. As a result, the two of them gradually became closer.

When Ethan heard Jason’s reply, he looked genuinely surprised. She’s got some guts, I’ll give her that. And honestly, she’s just as good- looking as Yvonne.”

Jason paused for a moment before answering, “Yeah, she’s not lacking in looks, but she’s stubborn as hell. No matter what, she just won’t leave Charles.

Ethan chuckled. “Charles is one in a million. Once you’ve got a guy like that, you’re not gonna let him go.”

As soon as he said it, Ethan realized his words applied to more than just Teresa.

He fell silent for a moment, then his expression turned cold. “But she messed with me tonight and tried to steal my sister’s man. She’s got a death wish.”

His meaning was crystal clear. He was giving Ethan the green light to do whatever he wanted.

On the way back to the Sullivan Mansion, Wendy was driving, and Teresa sat in the back seat with Yvonne sprawled across her lap.

“Mr. Gould, Gould Group has always run its transactions through our financial platform. All these years, there’s never been a problem. Our tech is solid, so please don’t cut us off.” she slurred.

“Mr. Yates, if I did something to upset you, please just tell me. I’ll fix it,” she pleaded.

Yvonne kept babbling nonsense, and Teresa finally figured out what was really going on from her drunken ramblings.

The Sullivan Family was in finance. They made their money working with big companies, and without those deals, the business wouldn’t survive.

Teresa was sure Yvonne had probably humbled herself, but she knew Jason was just making stuff up.

Yvonne had given up so much for the family.

She went to that dinner all by herself, not even thinking about her own safety, clinging to that tiny hope things might work out.

Teresa couldn’t help it. Her eyes turned red and tears started to fall.

Once they got Yvonne back to her room, Teresa never left her side, watching over her the whole time.

She wiped Yvonne’s hands, cleaned her up, and helped her change into fresh clothes.

Yvonne threw up twice, and after that, she finally fell asleep.

Teresa stayed in the room, keeping watch. It wasn’t until late into the night that Yvonne slowly started to wake up.

The first thing Yvonne did when she came to was feel around her body, checking herself.

When she realized her clothes had been changed, she instinctively slapped herself, overwhelmed with anxiety.

Teresa heard the sound and grabbed Yvonne’s hand. “Don’t worry. It was me. I changed your clothes. You’re fine.

Hearing Teresa’s voice, Yvonne finally let out a shaky breath, her heart slowly settling.

Teresa wrapped her arms around Yvonne, feeling her body tremble. She gently soothed her, “Don’t be silly.”

Yvonne whispered, “I see your brother working himself to death every day, barely sleeping, and I just wanted to help him out a little.”

Tears welled up in Teresa’s eyes as she replied, her voice thick with emotion, “The Sullivan Family is truly blessed to have someone like

you.”

Yvonne still looked down. “It’s justI didn’t help at all, and I almost made things worse.”

Teresa gently patted Yvonne’s back. “All that matters is you’re safe. Nothing else is important. Rich or poor, we have our own way of living. As long as our family sticks together, we’ll always find a way

out.”

Yvonne felt a little better, but when she thought about Theodore, she still looked worried. “No matter what, you can’t let your brother know what happened tonight. If Theodore finds out, he’ll never let it slide.”

Teresa knew how serious it was and promised Yvonne she wouldn’t say a word.

The next evening, after visiting Richard at the hospital, Teresa and Charles left together.

As they walked out of the hospital, Teresa hesitated for a moment before speaking up. “I need to talk to you about something.”

Charles looked at her. “About what?”

Teresa decided to be straight with him. “Can you run your company’s transactions through my brother’s financial platform?”
